Publication number: 20160078649Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for efficient real-time ink stroke smoothing, trajectory prediction, and GPU-leveraged rendering of ink stroke input. First and second ink points are received and an active Bézier approximation is computed based thereupon. Sequentially later in time that the first and second ink points, a third ink point is received. It is determined whether the third ink point adequately fits the active Bézier approximation. Where it is determined that the third ink point adequately fits, an updated active Bézier approximation is computed that includes the first, second and third ink points. Where it is determined that the third ink point fails to adequately fit, a different new Bézier approximation is computed that includes the third ink point but not the first and second ink points. Leveraging a GPU, a smoothed ink stroke based upon the Bézier approximation(s) is rendered.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2014Publication date: March 17, 2016Inventors: SILVANO BONACINA, ALEKSANDAR UZELAC, AUSTIN BRADLEY HODGES, DAVID ABZARIAN, FEI SU, MILES M. Patent number: 9274628Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide virtual hover zones. When a user lowers a hovering stylus while remaining within a hover zone, cursor control is modified to be more easily controllable by the user. If the user pauses the stylus in mid-air before lowering the stylus, and if the stylus remains within the hover zone, then upon touchdown the cursor may be moved to the projection of the location where the stylus was paused. Any action that may be taken in response to the touch down may be sent to the projection location as well. Also provided are cursor control zones. A dampening zone may be used to provide dampened cursor movement feedback in response to movement input provided by a pointing device. Also, a dead zone may be used to prohibit cursor movement in response to movement input provided by the pointing device.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2013Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Alexander J. Kolmykov-Zotov, Emily K. Rimas-Ribikauskas, Philip Ti-Fei Su, Reed L. Townsend, Robert J. Jarrett, Steven P. Dodge

Patent number: 9262076Abstract: User experience of the performance of a computing device is improved through an operating system that processes inputs from a soft keyboard to provide information that can be used to accurately determine keys a user intended to strike while typing. For each detected tap, the operating system provides a probability that one or more keys were the intended target for the user. These probabilities may be computed from probability distribution functions that are dynamically determined based on user and/or system factors, such as typing rate and keyboard style or layout. Other components may use the probabilities to select a key corresponding to a detected keyboard tap as representing the intended user input. The selection may be made based on the probabilities alone or in combination with contextual factors that yield an overall probability that a detected tap arose from a user targeting a specific key.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2011Date of Patent: February 16, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Reed L. Patent number: 9125330Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a conductive connection structure, and more particularly to a pin structure and pin connection structure thereof. The pin structure is disposed at least one side of an anisotropic conductive film. A plurality of conductive particles is distributed over the interior of the anisotropic conductive film. The pin structure comprises: a plurality of columns which are interspaced, wherein, the conductive particles are in the periphery of the columns. The pin structure and pin connection structure provided by the present disclosure use a pin structure comprising a plurality of columns which are interspaced. When the anisotropic conductive film is used to laminate pin structures, spacing between adjacent columns can contain the conductive particles so as to reduce the number of conductive particle that flow between the left-and-right adjacent pin structures, thereby reducing incidence of short circuit of the left-and-right adjacent pin structures.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2012Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: TPK Touch Systems (Xiamen) Inc.Inventors: Fei Su, Meifang Lan, Hao Wei, Jiantong Chen, Yufang Xiong, Yicong Su

Publication number: 20140368436Abstract: Techniques for identifying inadvertent user input, such as inadvertent touch contact or air input, are described. The techniques may include classifying a touch contact or air input as intentional or unintentional based on contextual information related to the touch contact, the air input, or a device via which the touch contact or air input was received. In some examples, the contextual information may indicate how a user is interacting with the device, such as a position of the user's hand, a location of the touch contact on a touch surface, a path of user's touch trajectory, an application with which the user may be interacting, keyboard input history of the user, and so on. When the user input is classified as unintentional, the techniques may refrain from performing an action that is generally triggered by the user input.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2013Publication date: December 18, 2014Inventors: David Abzarian, Ross W. Publication number: 20130007122Abstract: A user interface in a social networking system enables users to connect to and interact with each other using a third-party communication service, such as a VoIP or video chat service. A user initiates an interaction with another user in the social networking system, which passes the users' information to the third-party communication service provider to allow it to provide the requested service. The social networking system may pass an encrypted identifier for the users so that the third-party communication service does not have access to the real identities of the social networking system's users. A user of the social networking system may use this process to video conference with users of the third-party communication service, rather than just other users of the social networking system, and vice versa.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2011Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventor: Philip Ti-Fei Su
