  • Patent number: 11523851
Abstract: A cortical shaft bone fixation apparatus includes a housing having a leading portion and a trailing portion, the leading portion configured to fit within a diameter of an affected cortical shaft bone, the leading portion having first and second sections. The apparatus further includes an expansion mechanism adapted to transition the first and second sections from a first position to a second position, the first and second sections providing an outward force against the inside surface of the cortical shaft bone when the first and second sections transition from the first position to the second position, the trailing portion of the housing abutting a leading end of the affected cortical shaft bone. The trailing portion of the housing includes a pair of angled tapers extending inwardly toward each other to a minimum separation distance at an extreme end of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20210275196
Abstract: A patient-specific cutting guide system comprises at least two instruments. One is a positioner configured to locate a fiducial marker on a patient's bone and to be secured in three axes. The second is a cutting guide that cooperates with the positioner and delineates cuts to be made. The instruments are designed from images of the bone with the marker already in place. Preferably, a positioner comprises at least three targeting apertures configured to locate at least three non-linear markets. The cutting guide comprises top surface contours that guide the depth of the cuts. A method of forming this system comprises placing at least one marker (preferably three) on a patient's bone, then imaging the bone, forming a positioner designed to incorporate the marker position, and forming a cutting guide configured to be oriented and anchored by the positioner.

  • Patent number: 10492839
Abstract: The embodiments disclosed provide an expandable osseointegration bone fixation apparatus configured to be attached to an affected or fractured bone. The apparatus includes an elongated housing containing a cylindrically shaped intraosseous insert have an expansion mechanism. The insert further includes a set of inwardly angled tapers designed to be attached to a diaphyseal bone where a set of diametrically opposed congruent inserts are configured to incrementally expanded in opposite directions and cause an incremental force against the inside surface of the housing to increase compression to the affected bone.
