    Abstract: A manual cutting apparatus for cutting thick media includes a sliding blade housed within a carriage. The sliding blade is adjustable in cutting depth to enable scoring and cutting all the way through. The carriage rides on a pair of rails. To operate, the user presses down on an actuator to lower the cutting blade and then slides the cutting mechanism from a starting end to a finishing end, namely, toward the user's body. A securing mechanism fixes the media in place and thereby frees the user's other hand from having to hold the media. The user's other hand may grab onto a leverage handle adjacent to the starting end of the base for extra leverage in sliding the cutting mechanism with the first hand.
