  • Publication number: 20200363104
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device includes a processor, a water block, a thermoelectric cooler, and a thermal space transformer. The thermoelectric cooler is disposed in series between the processor and the water block, and the thermoelectric cooler includes a heated surface and a cooled surface. The heated surface is thermally coupled to the water block, and the cooled surface is thermally coupled to the processor via the thermal space transformer. The thermal space transformer transfers thermal energy between the processor and the cooled surface of the thermoelectric cooler. The thermal space transformer includes a smaller surface and a larger surface. The smaller surface is thermally coupled to the processor and the larger surface is thermally coupled to the cooled surface of the thermoelectric cooler.

  • Publication number: 20110231236
Abstract: Systems and methods for promotions of selected products in a retail grocery setting include providing electronic coupons for immediate use. Customers are provided an RFID tag that can communicate with RFID devices placed on the grocery shelves adjacent or near the selected products. Touching or approaching the shelf devices with a tag transfers the coupon information to the tag, and an RFID reader at the point of sale retrieves the coupon information and applies the discounts at checkout.

  • Patent number: 7346945
Abstract: A bariatric treatment system providing a comprehensive array of therapeutic services for the morbidly obese patient is disclosed. The treatment system generally comprises a stable bed frame upon which is mounted a low air loss therapeutic mattress system. Integrated hardware and software controls provide such therapies as pulsation, percussion, rotation, cardiac chair and Trendelenburg. Means are disclosed whereby the bariatric patient may safely and comfortably enter and exit the bed with relative ease. The bed is adaptable for transport within a hospital, including such features as a TRANSPORT MODE wherein the bed's lateral axis is minimized and battery backup to maintain necessary therapies during patient transport. A plurality of control means are disclosed for simplification of caregiver workload and ease of patient utilization.

  • Publication number: 20050154058
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing a wide range of hydroxytyrosol esters. According to the invention, the compounds are synthesised by reacting synthetic hydroxytyrosol or natural hydroxytyrosol compounds, oleuropein or oleuropein aglycones (which are found in olive oil, vegetable water, olive marc or olive leaves) with an acylating agent which is a compound containing at least one acylic group R, wherein R is H, an alkyl radical with between 1 and 31 linear, branched or cyclic carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical with up to 31 linear, branched or cyclic carbon atoms or an aryl group. The invention also relates to the esters prepared with the inventive method, which can be used as an additive in food and cosmetic products as well as in pharmaceutical preparations.

  • Patent number: 6217740
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for electrochemically producing a carbonaceous material with its surface modified by organic groups, in particular functionalized organic groups. The process comprises providing a solution, in a protic or aprotic solvent, comprising a salt of a carboxylate of an organic residue capable of undergoing a Kolbe reaction. The solution is then put in contact with a carbonaceous material, wherein the carbonaceous material is positively polarized with respect to a cathode that is also in contact with the solution. The solution may optionally contain an electrolyte. The invention also concerns carbonaceous materials modified at the surface with arylmethyl groups and the use of these modified materials, for example, in the production of composite materials.
