  • Patent number: 6806960
Abstract: A multi-axis interferometer uses a combined beam for a first pass through the interferometer optics. Measurement and reference components of the combined beam that exit the interferometer optics are subject to walk-off that measurement or reference reflector misalignment can cause. A return reflector and non-polarizing beam splitter system split the combined beam into separated input beams for the various axes of the interferometer and return the separated beams for respective second passes through the interferometer optics. Walk-off for the separated beams in the interferometer optics cancels the walk-off for the combined beam to eliminate beam walk-off in separated output beams. Sharing a combined beam for a first pass through the interferometer optics reduces the sizes required for the interferometer optics and reference and measurement mirrors. The multi-axis interferometer may have a single return reflector.

  • Publication number: 20040201376
Abstract: A circuit for measuring distances comprising at least two inputs (1, 2), at least one measuring coil (3), and at least one signal source, wherein at least two input signals (epos, eneg) are generated by means of the signal source, and the inputs (1, 2) are activatable by means of the input signals (epos, eneg) The input signals (epos, eneg) are applied, preferably preprocessed, to the inputs of the measuring coil (3). The circuit is designed for use where little space is available for the circuit, with the input signals (epos, eneg) being applied to a preferably timed SC network, which generates a measuring signal and/or an output signal that is dependent on temperature. A corresponding method is also described.

  • Publication number: 20040203656
Abstract: Described is a method and system for providing timed profile changes to a mobile device. The mobile device initiates a timed profile change in response to the user or an event associated with the mobile device. The mobile device monitors the profile period and provides a user with information regarding the length of the profile period remaining, as well as other information. When the period of the selected timed profile expires, the mobile device returns to a previous profile associated with the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20040204133
Abstract: A system and method in a connectivity user interface of a mobile device that enables a user to inspect and select a connection from among available network connections and methods of connecting. If the user alternatively wants a connection to be automatically selected by the device, the connectivity user interface allows the user to verify the connection that will be made when required. An easily accessible connectivity dialog displays configured connections, and connection data. Before a connection is established, the connection data may describe a type of connection, such as the telephone number for a dial-up connection. After a connection is established, the connection data may describe the connection's status, such as the amount of time the connection has been in use. A link in the connectivity user interface enables the user to efficiently configure or reconfigure a connection.

Abstract: Up-conversion and down-conversion photo-luminescence in rare earth compounds are disclosed. Broadband, super-radiant, and discrete line emissions are observed. The rare earth compounds include a rare earth element and at least one other element selected from chalcogens, halogens, nitrogen, and phosphorus. The rare earth compounds include, but are not limited to, rare earth oxides, fluorides, and oxyfluorides. Doping and co-doping of rare earth compounds in an optical host material is not required. The compounds are irradiated with incident light having an incident wavelength that is selected to be highly absorbed by the rare earth compound. • Patent number: 6801666
Abstract: A trellis filtering of a digital signal is disclosed. A method is provided of analysis filtering of an original digital signal including original samples representing physical quantities. Original samples of the digital signal are transformed by successive calculation steps into high and low frequency output samples. Any sample calculated at a given step is calculated by a predetermined function of original samples, and/or previously calculated samples, the samples being ordered in increasing rank. The signal is processed by successive series of samples, the calculations made on any series not taking into account the samples in a following series, and in that the any series terminates in a low-frequency sample.

  • Patent number: 6797540
Abstract: Methods of fabricating leadless packages are described that facilitate increased contact density. Each device area in a lead frame panel has a die attach pad and a multiplicity of conductive contacts. The contacts are carried by tie bars and the die attach pad is carried by support bars that extend from the contacts. During assembly, the lead frame panel is held in position while the die attach pad support bars are severed. Once the die attach pad support bars are severed, an adhesive tape is adhered to the bottom surface of the lead frame panel so that the die attach pad may be held in position relative to its associated contacts. After the adhesive tape has been applied, the leadless packages may be assembled in a conventional manner.
