  • Patent number: 12625181
Abstract: A monitoring system for a mechanically driven circuit breaker that includes fixed and moveable contacts, and a main actuator, wherein the moveable contact is selectively spaced from the fixed contact, and wherein the main actuator transitions the circuit breaker between states, the monitoring system comprising an actuation device; a sensor; and a processing unit. The actuation device applies a micro-motion to the actuator without the circuit breaker transitioning states; wherein the sensor acquires sensor data associated with the application of the micro-motion; wherein the sensor provides sensor data to the processing unit; and wherein the processing unit determines whether the circuit breaker has a fault using the sensor data.

  • Publication number: 20250237701
Abstract: A switchgear event detection system includes sensors; a processing unit; and an output unit; wherein the sensors are mounted in and/or on a switchgear. The sensors acquire signals relating to an event inside the switchgear and/or outside the switchgear and in the vicinity of the switchgear, the signals being vibration/acoustic signals, which extend over a time window. The processing unit compares the signals with reference signals that relate to reference events. The processing unit classifies the event as a specific reference event when a match of the comparison exceeds a first threshold. The output unit outputs information on the event comprising utilization of information of the specific reference event stored in the database.

  • Publication number: 20250224450
Abstract: A circuit breaker monitoring system includes a vibration sensor, a processing unit, and an output unit. The sensor is mounted to a circuit breaker and acquires temporal vibration data during a closing operation of the circuit breaker while a moveable contact moves towards a fixed contact. Temporal vibration data is provided to the processing unit, which determines operational functionality of the circuit breaker by use of a machine learning algorithm trained on a plurality of travel curve data. The output unit outputs information relating to the indication of operational functionality of the circuit breaker.

  • Publication number: 20250132111
Abstract: A vacuum circuit breaker comprises a vacuum breaker unit; and a drive unit. The drive unit includes an opening spring for biasing a movable contact of the vacuum breaker unit towards the open position; and a spring tension adjustment mechanism. The spring tension adjustment mechanism comprises an adjustment actuator; and a rigid coupling link connecting the adjustment actuator to the second end portion the opening spring. The adjustment actuator is arranged offset from an opening spring axis.
