  • Publication number: 20180002005
Abstract: A helicopter with a rotor pivotally connected to a shaft by a universal joint or ball and socket joint. The helicopter includes: a fuselage; a rotor mast that is fixed against relative rotation with respect to the fuselage; at least one blade; a motor for rotating the at least one blade; and a universal joint or ball and socket joint. The universal joint or ball and socket joint: (i) is disposed between the at least one blade and the rotor mast, with the at least one blade being rotatable relative to the universal joint or ball and socket joint; (ii) is disposed between the motor and the rotor mast; and (iii) is fixed against relative rotation with respect to the rotor mast, such that, pivoting of the universal joint or ball and socket joint causes the at least one blade and the motor to tilt.

  • Patent number: 9272779
Abstract: An aircraft includes two rotors for rotation about a non-rotating rotor mast. The rotors are driven by permanent and/or electromagnets positioned on each of the rotors. A rotor mast joint connecting the rotor mast to a fuselage or wing of the aircraft permits the rotor mast to tilt relative to the fuselage or wing in at least one plane.

  • Publication number: 20140284419
Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage or wing; a rotor mast; two rotors spaced axially along, and rotatably connected to the rotor mast; permanent and/or electro magnets on each of the rotors; and a rotor mast joint connecting the rotor mast to the fuselage or wing, wherein the rotor mast joint, in use, permits the rotor mast to tilt relative to the fuselage or wing in at least one plane.
