  • Patent number: 4650132
Abstract: The controlled magnetic bearing arrangement supports a rotatable shaft and contains an electronic control circuit. The shaft is floatingly supported in the bearing arrangement by magnets controlled by the electronic control circuit and the stiffness of the shaft is thereby adjustable. The shaft may constitute a package support shaft in a winding device of a spinning machine and has a free end for permitting the axial exchange of bobbin tubes and packages. This arrangement provides the advantages of attaining very high rotational speeds for the package support shaft and the possibility of varying the stiffness of such package support shaft and thus the critical rotational speeds. The regions of the critical rotational speeds can be passed through in a safe manner.

  • Patent number: 4535515
Abstract: A draw-roll assembly is movable downwardly on guide rods from a working position into a filament take-up position. A slightly heavier counter weight connected with the draw-roll assembly by means of a cable ensures that the draw-roll assembly stays in the upper position even upon failure of a pneumatic control and also that the movement forces are limited substantially to the difference between the weights. An electro-pneumatic control controls the movement speed of the draw-roll assembly from the filament take up position into the working position.

  • Patent number: 4519778
Abstract: The safety outflow device is provided in an end wall of a heatable godet and may be of a fusible type or pressure responsive type. The fusible safety device has fusible material which fills an outflow passage in a hermetic manner so that upon the occurrence of an excess temperature, the fusible material melts and permits exhaust of the vaporized medium. The pressure responsive safety device employs a burstable disc which bursts at a pressure corresponding to an overheated temperature so as to exhaust the heated medium. The safety devices serve as additional protection independently of manual and electrical means which may be provided.

  • Patent number: 4394985
Abstract: The present invention concerns an apparatus for winding threads or yarns and similar strands, in which a friction drive roll and a bobbin support roll are provided. The latter is supported only at one end, and the other end is free, in such manner that easy operation is possible. In arrangements of such type any deviation, however small, of the two rolls from their correct, parallel position, is to be avoided if correctly built bobbin packages are to be produced in the winding process. This is achieved according to the invention in that a coupling means, coupled or connected with the bobbin support roll, which moves during the winding process, brings about a forcible parallel alignment of the two rolls.

  • Patent number: 4051807
Abstract: Apparatus for applying preparation agents onto a large filament bundle passing through substantially vertically, comprising an applicator head with a slit for applying the preparation agent and at least one guide edge for guiding the filament bundle. A supply duct supplies the preparation agent to the slit. The applicator head consists of at least two opposite surfaces forming the slit and the guide edge, which surfaces are provided at least in the slit with a roughness assisting the distribution of the agent in the slit.

  • Patent number: 4005302
Abstract: A heatable drawroll for drawtwisting, draw-winding and spin-draw winding machines includes a stationary induction heating coil having a core and mounted within rotatable metal jacket. A sleeve of heat and electrical insulating material is stationarily disposed inside the jacket in radially spaced relation to the jacket and the coil to circumferentially surround the coil and form an intermediate space therewith for receiving a coolant for cooling the coil. Means are provided for supplying coolant to and removing coolant from the intermediate space. A second coolant space can also be formed between the coil and the core and be connected with the first space via coolant ducts through the coil. The sleeve may be porous so as to allow some of the coolant to flow therethrough and impinge on the inner surface of the jacket.

  • Patent number: 3998041
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, fabricating a textured yarn or the like comprising a false twist device containing a number of friction disks arranged in spaced coaxial relationship with respect to one another in succession and thread guide elements helically distributed along the circumference of the false twist device. The thread guide elements extend into the space between the disks and are helically arranged along the circumference of the false twist device in such a manner that a yarn contacting the disks and guided by the thread guide elements contacts the false twist device along a helix, the helix angle or pitch of which decreases in the direction of travel of the yarn.

  • Patent number: 3970260
Abstract: Apparatus for building a rotationally symmetrically evened bobbin package with a bobbin chuck for supporting the bobbin and with a friction drive drum for driving the bobbin. The bobbin chuck is rotatable at speeds above the critical rotational speed and there is provided on the bobbin chuck a balancing element with a mass which is freely movable along a circular path concentric with the bobbin chuck axis, which mass in the centered position of the bobbin chuck is distributable evenly and automatically along the path.

  • Patent number: 3955768
Abstract: Apparatus for producing waste wraps and thread reserve windings on a bobbin tube which is placed onto a rotating bobbin chuck and at a face side of which there is provided a thread catching zone. For the purpose of producing the waste wraps there is provided a first lever which is arranged to be pivotable with a delay and for producing the thread reserve wraps a second pivotable lever arranged axially offset with respect to the first lever as seen from the face side. Both levers are pivotable in such a manner that they are consecutively pivoted away by the thread caught by the rotating package tube and with different delays while wraps are wound beginning at the face side with the thread tending to move along a thread guide edge towards a central position.

  • Patent number: 3934831
Abstract: A traversing thread guide for winding a thread, comprising an elongated cam engaging portion which meshes with a helically extending endless cam groove of a traverse cylinder. A gliding member for linear to-and-fro guiding of the traversing thread guide along a rigid guide device extends parallel to the rotational axis of the traverse cylinder, said guiding member being arranged offset with respect to the center of the cam engaging portion. A thread guide member is rigidly arranged on the gliding member. The cam engaging portion comprises a base for inner radial guidance of the traversing thread guide, said base being provided with a curvature which at least approximates the curvature of the cam groove base or bottom and comprises an upper surface designed for outer radial guidance of the thread guide on an inside surface of the extended guide device.
