  • Patent number: 10508631
Abstract: The apparatus and related method employ fluid pressure to first separate the water accumulation chamber from the filtration chamber of a filter assembly by closing fluid flow pathways that allow water to flow into the accumulation chamber. With the chambers separated, fluid pressure is applied to the accumulation chamber to open a drain valve and push water out of the accumulation chamber. The period for which pressure is applied to the accumulation chamber can be regulated by sensors detecting a low water level, or can be timed, or both. When the water removal is completed, the fluid pressure is removed and fluid communication between the filtration chamber and the water accumulation chamber is restored.

  • Publication number: 20060027489
Abstract: An adapter connects a pump motor of a fuel filter assembly in series with a heater to a 24-volt electrical system. The heater and motor in series act as a voltage divider. The heater is selected so that the total resistance of the voltage divider provides current flow adequate to operate the pump motor. The motor resistance and the heater resistance are approximately equal, producing a voltage drop across each component of approximately 12 volts. With appropriately selected components, no additional electrical or electronic components or circuitry are required. Existing, proven 12-volt motors and heaters can be employed. The 12-volt electrical components of a fuel filter assembly are efficiently adapted to operate in a 24-volt electrical system.

  • Patent number: 6227806
Abstract: Lift pump guard for a pump operable by an electrical motor. The lift pump guard monitors variable parameters and actuates a relay to electrically terminate operation of the pump motor when the pump is dry running. Also a method of protecting a pump from dry running compares a measured parameter to a predetermined value and terminates operation based on the comparison.
