    Abstract: Methods for charging a battery of a portable device can include increasing the charge current for the battery, where the charge current sourced from electrical power received at a connector of a portable device. If a voltage at the connector drops below a predetermined value, setting a charge current limit to a level less than that corresponding to the voltage drop. If the voltage at the connector does not drop below the predetermined value, setting the charge current limit to a predetermined level. The charge current limit can be stored, and the battery can be charged with the charge current having a maximum value determined by the charge current limit. One or more application circuits of the portable device can be selectively disabled based on the charge current limit.

    Abstract: UE location determined by collecting and preprocessing signal data at a detector and sending extracted data to a remote locate server. The detector buffers samples from signals provided by receive channels, detects known reference signals from receive channels based on reference signal parameters, isolates symbols carrying the reference signal from frames, extracts data from symbols, and sends extracted data to locate server. The locate server receives the extracted data, estimates locate observables based on the extracted data and calculates the UE location based on the estimated locate observables, the reference signal parameters and the extracted data. The detector and/or the server may also generate correlation coefficients between reference signals carrying spectrum received from a serving cell and utilize the correlation coefficients to cancel a serving cell signal in symbols that include known in advance reference signals from the serving cell and one or more neighboring cells of the wireless system.

    Abstract: Methods for determining a LOB of one or more user equipment (UE) in a wireless system employing Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) is described. TDOA techniques are based on estimating the difference in the arrival times of reference signals from multiple receivers or from multiple emitters to a receiver. A particular value of the time difference estimate defines a hyperbola between the two receivers on which the handset may exist. When the distance between the receiving antennas is small relative to the distance of the emitter source (the handset) being located, then the TDOA is equivalent to the angle between the baseline of the sensors (receivers antennas) and the incident RF energy from the emitter. If the angle between the baseline and true North is known, then the line of bearing (LOB) and/or angle of arrival (AoA), can be utilized to determine the location of the UE.
