  • Patent number: 4201354
Abstract: An enclosure system includes a light-tight enclosure and a means for guiding the direction of movement of phototypesetting paper to and from the enclosure. The enclosure is capable of storing a roll of phototypesetting paper, of dispensing paper from said roll, and of returning paper onto said roll without folding or otherwise buckling the paper. The system obviates the need for a separate "take-up" enclosure and eliminates the problem of degraded print quality typically associated with characters printed at or near a fold. The enclosure comprises a container with a pivotally mounted spring-loaded lid with a gasket thereon, and a shaft disposed in the container for storing a roll of paper of selected width.

  • Patent number: 4129266
Abstract: The drawings illustrate a cassette only, to fit into any machine that uses a paper roll supply and requires accurate alignment of that roll supply with the processing machine. The cassette is bodily urged against one wall of the host machine in order to establish that wall as a reference. In the housing is a roll support core which is compound in that it has two members which are telescoped and spring-urged to expand. This will gauge the core against the wall of the housing that's engaged with the wall of the host machine. Then, the spring-urged slidable component of the core carries a positionable slide plate which, if the roll were not inserted, would come to rest at a position short of the roll length, and therefore constantly urges the roll against the cassette wall as a gauge of the roll by mesne gauge means with the host machine.

  • Patent number: 4047188
Abstract: An edge guide for the rotating disc of a photocomposition machine wherein the guide is made up of a plurality of guide surfaces, offset with respect to one another on opposite sides of a plane, and staggered along a guide path so that preferably no guide surface is opposite another guide surface. The radial clearance between any two guide edges is sufficient to allow the discharge of foreign matter.
