  • Patent number: 6339962
Abstract: A force sensor has an elastically deformable carrier (10; 110) which absorbs the force to be measured and on which there are a first and a second strain measurement element (21, 31; 121, 131) arranged such that the elastic deformation of the carrier (10; 110) which is caused by the force leads to different elongations in the two strain measurement elements (21, 31; 121, 131). This difference in elongations is used as a measure for the force to be measured. The force sensor as claimed in the invention is largely immune to disruptive ambient influences such as temperature changes, electromagnetic interference, tensile, compressive and/or shearing forces in the lengthwise direction of the tube, shearing forces transversely to the lengthwise direction of the tube, etc. Wheel load scales with several force sensors as claimed in the invention have such a short response time that it enables measurement of the wheel loads of moving vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4775019
Abstract: The wheel loading balance has a platform (1), of which one side (13) is, by a first pair of tibs (2), supported for horizontal movement on a first lever member (4) while the opposite side (14) is supported for horizontal movement on a second lever member (5) by a second pair of ribs (3). The two lever members (4, 5) are connected to each other pivotally and in such a way as to be secured against mutual displacement by a spring steel plate (33), being rotatably and horizontally movably mounted in a base (6) (38 to 41) at their remote ends (36, 37). One of the two facing ends of the lever members is rigidly connected to a pressure transmitting member (7) while the other is rotatably supported thereon (31,32). The pressure transmitting member (7) loaded by the lever members lies freely on a diaphragm (23) of a pressure force measuring cell (8) which together with a weight indicating pressure gauge and a connecting line (25) forms a component assembly which is exchangeably mounted in the base (6).

  • Patent number: 4673049
Abstract: The weighing device for wheel loads has a platform (3) which distributes the load over a plurality of elongated hollow elements (2) disposed parallel with and at equal distances apart from and alongside one another on a baseplate (1). The hollow elements (2) consists of springing material and their cavities (12) are filled with fluid. A connecting line links the cavities (12) to a measuring device which is calibrated in units of weight and measures the volume of fluid displaced from the cavities (12) under load. The cavities (12) in the hollow elements (2) have a split or gap-shaped cross-section, and are substantially parallel with the platform (3). The gap width in the hollow elements (2) is so dimensioned that the inside faces of the hollow elements (2) which define the gap (12) at least partially abut each other when the weighing device is overloaded, prior to the elasticity limit of the hollow elements (2) being reached.
