  • Publication number: 20230286441
Abstract: A vehicular accessory system includes an overhead console module having (i) a primary portion configured to attach at an interior portion of a vehicle, and (ii) a secondary portion that, with the primary portion attached at the interior portion of the vehicle, extends from the primary portion. The secondary portion extends along an interior surface of the vehicle and is spaced from and disposed below the interior surface of the vehicle. An interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head that includes a mirror reflective element and that is adjustably mounted at the overhead console module via a mounting structure. An electronic control unit (ECU) is disposed at the overhead console module and includes electronic circuitry and associated software. The ECU is operable to control a system of the vehicle and an electronic accessory of the interior rearview mirror assembly.

  • Patent number: 10926704
Abstract: A method for assembling an exterior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror head and a mounting base and pivotally attaching the mirror head at the mounting base. An illumination device is provided that includes a base portion and a movable portion movably disposed at the base portion, with the movable portion including a light source. The base portion is fixedly disposed at the mirror head. The assembled mirror assembly is configured so that, with the mounting base attached at the side of the vehicle, and when a powerfold actuator pivots the mirror head, and with the light source operated to emit visible light, the movable portion moves relative to the base portion as the mirror head pivots so that light emitted by the light source is directed toward the same ground area at the side of the vehicle throughout the range of pivotal movement of the mirror head.

  • Patent number: 10703284
Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head pivotally mounted at a mounting base. The mirror head includes a mirror casing and a reflective element adjustably disposed at the mirror casing. An illumination device is disposed at the mirror head. The illumination device includes a light source that, when operated with the mounting base attached at the side of a vehicle, emits visible light to illuminate a ground region at the side of the vehicle. A powerfold actuator is electrically operated to pivot the mirror head relative to the mounting base between a folded position and a drive position. When the powerfold actuator pivots the mirror head, and with the light source of the illumination device operated, the visible light emitted by the light source is directed toward the same ground area at the side of the vehicle throughout the range of pivotal movement of the mirror head.

  • Publication number: 20190275943
Abstract: An exterior mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror head having a mirror housing and a reflective element, which is disposed so as to be adjustable at the mirror housing. The mirror assembly includes a mirror base or mounting base and an actuator for electric inward folding. The mirror assembly includes a sealing element that seals between the mirror head and the mirror base at least when the mirror head is in a use or extended position. When the mirror head is pivoted between the use position and a folded or stowed position, the sealing element is disengaged from the mirror head or the mirror base to allow for reduced friction pivoting of the mirror head relative to the mirror base. The sealing element may be mechanically moved to disengage or may disengage responsive to an electromagnetic element. The mirror assembly may include a light/indicator module.
