Publication number: 20210235215Abstract: The present document relates to methods and apparatus for rendering input audio for playback in a playback environment. The input audio includes at least one audio object and associated metadata, and the associated metadata indicates at least a location of the audio object. A method for rendering input audio including divergence metadata for playback in a playback environment comprises creating two additional audio objects associated with the audio object such that respective locations of the two additional audio objects are evenly spaced from the location of the audio object, on opposite sides of the location of the audio object when seen from an intended listener's position in the playback environment, determining respective weight factors for application to the audio object and the two additional audio objects, and rendering the audio object and the two additional audio objects to one or more speaker feeds in accordance with the determined weight factors.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2021Publication date: July 29, 2021Applicants: DOLBY INTERNATIONAL AB, DOLBY LABORATORIES LICENSING CORPORATIONInventors: Michael William Mason, Juan Felix Torres, Antonio Mateos Sole, Daniel Arteaga, Adam J. Publication number: 20210219083Abstract: An audio object including audio content and object metadata is received. The object metadata indicates an object spatial position of the audio object to be rendered by audio speakers in a playback environment. Based on the object spatial position and source spatial positions of the audio speakers, initial gain values for the audio speakers are determined. The initial gain values can be used to select a set of audio speakers from among the audio speakers. Based on the object spatial position and a set of source spatial positions at which the set of audio speakers are respectively located in the playback environment, a set of non-negative optimized gain values for the set of audio speakers is determined. The audio object at the object spatial position is rendered with the set of optimized gain values for the set of audio speakers.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2021Publication date: July 15, 2021Applicants: DOLBY LABORATORIES LICENSING CORPORATION, Dolby International ABInventors: Jun Wang, Giulio Cengarle, Juan Felix Torres, Daniel Arteaga

Patent number: 10861467Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products of audio processing based on Adaptive Intermediate Spatial Format (AISF) are described. The AISF is an extension to ISF that allows spatial resolution around an ISF ring to be adjusted dynamically with respect to content of incoming audio objects. An AISF encoder device adaptively warps each ISF ring during ISF encoding to adjust angular distance between objects, resulting in increase in uniformity of energy distribution around the ISF ring. At an AISF decoder device, matrices that decode sound positions to the output speaker take into account the warping that was performed at the AISF encoder device to reproduce the true positions of sound sources.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2018Date of Patent: December 8, 2020Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Juan Felix Torres, David S. Patent number: 10251007Abstract: A method, apparatus, and medium for rendering an audio program to a number of loudspeaker feed signals are provided. The audio program may include one or more audio objects, and metadata associated with each of the one or more audio objects. The metadata may include position information indicating a time-varying position of the audio object and a parameter indicating whether the audio object should be reproduced at the time-varying position, or at one of a plurality of fixed positions. In response to the position and the parameter, a position at which to reproduce each audio object may be determined. The determined position may be one of the plurality of fixed positions that is nearest to the time-varying position indicated by the position information. Each audio object may be reproduced at the determined position by rendering the audio object into one or more of the loudspeaker feed signals.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2016Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventor: Juan Felix Torres

Patent number: 9939656Abstract: Disclosed is a nose pad for comfortably supporting eyeglasses in multiple positions. The nose pad comprising a more rigid main portion, and a highly flexible and soft back end portion. The main portion connected to an eyeglass frame and positioned for contacting a user's nose upon wearing the eyeglasses in a normal wearing position. The back end portion connected to this main portion and generally positioned on a back edge of this main portion for contacting a user's forehead area upon wearing the eyeglasses in a tilted up position. The main portion, being more rigid, supports the eyeglasses properly on a user's nose. The soft and flexible back end portion provides a comfortable and non-slipping contact with a user's forehead area. The combination of this main portion with the soft back end portion provides a comfortable and non-slipping contact with a user's nose. The nose pad of the present invention is applicable to all types of eyeglasses.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2014Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Inventor: Felix Torres

Patent number: 7180221Abstract: A piezo-electric type of assembly for effecting and interfacing relative motion between two surfaces. The assembly consisting of a first and a second transducer to be driven by electrical signals. Both transducers are coupled at one end to a low inertia member that is to make contact with a second surface. The first transducer controls this contact by moving the low inertial member relative to a high inertia member. The second transducer is coupled at the other end to a first surface. While the low inertia member is making contact with the second surface, activation of the second transducer causes relative motion between the first surface and the second surface due to frictional contact. The second transducer is reset while the first transducer causes momentary break of contact. The operation of this cycle has many applications.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2005Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Inventor: Felix Torres

Patent number: 6920027Abstract: A power system controller design for controlling fault current or load flow current by applying a variable inductive impedance. The device comprising multiple stages of transformers connected such that their primary coils are in series and carry the primary power. Their secondary circuits containing a device for interruption of secondary current. The secondary circuit of each stage having a small part of the primary energy flowing through them. Under normal conditions the interrupter allows secondary current to flow, producing no impedance on primary side. Upon operation of interrupter, inductive impedance appears across primary. Operation of single stages producing low inductive impedance on primary circuit. Operation of multiple stages producing higher inductive impedance on primary circuit. In a preferred embodiment, the transformers have saturating cores such that operation of single stages saturates their cores, producing low inductive impedance on primary circuit.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2002Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Inventor: Felix Torres
