  • Patent number: 6176927
Abstract: A coating apparatus with a spray head is provided for coating can bodies internally. The spray head is supplied with coating material through a feed line which passes through the seam welding machine for the container bodies. The combined spray and extraction head is also connected to a suction line which extracts excess coating material which has not been deposited on the internal walls of the container bodies, and returns it through the welding machine. In this way, the escape of coating material between the individual can bodies can largely be avoided, thus reducing contamination of equipment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 1997
Date of Patent: January 23, 2001
    Assignee: Elpatronic AG

  • Patent number: 5906858
Abstract: An injector for conveying a pulverulent material is supplied with entraining air via a line and with dosing air via another line. Dosing air and entraining air are kept constant in their total rate of flow by a flow controller. This yields a particularly homogeneous powder/air mixture, which is particularly advantageous in the conveying of coating powder for coating welded seams on can bodies.

  • Patent number: 5863600
Abstract: For the application of a coating material to an object, the coating material is conveyed along a conduit by means of an entraining gas. For good conveying conditions, the entraining gas is made to travel at high velocity. In order that the velocity of the coating material discharged at the coating zone is not excessive, a partial vacuum source extracts part of the entraining gas from a point upstream of the outlet, via a separate conduit. This results both in an improved rate of deposition of the coating material on the object to be coated and in a particularly uniform coating.

  • Patent number: 5514234
Abstract: At their free ends the yarns are straightened, clamped and welded with a film. Welding is performed with two welding bars to which is allocated a brush beam to tension the yarns. The welding bars are borne and/or guided by a frame to which the brush beam is also secured. The frame is fitted on a mobile chassis which also has a holder to take a roll of welding film. For use in weaving preparation works and in weaving works, especially in preparing the warp and in starting weaving.

  • Patent number: 5061510
Abstract: In a powder coating facility wherein powder entrained with conditioned air sprayed from a feed conduit (11) to a workpiece, such as a can body (51), and excess powder is returned by suction by means of exhausts (29, 25), a conditioning chamber (21) is arranged around the coating zone (15) in order to prevent contamination of the dispensed powder due to influences of the enviroment (U). An air flow (S) is provided, produced from openings (23) of the chamber (21), to conduct the can bodies (51) into and through the chamber (21). The air flow from the openings of the chamber prevents influences of the ambient surroundings of the chamber powder sprayed and retrieved in the powder coating facility.

  • Patent number: 4826704
Abstract: In order to increase the efficiency of a coating process wherein a coating medium such as, for example, powders directed from a coating medium pressure line toward a workpiece to be coated, with the coating process also including an applied electrostatic field, a coating medium which does not adhere to the workpiece is drawn off by way of a suction channel. A flow of the emerging coating medium is bent toward the workpiece that is to be coated by providing a carrier surface profile area between an outlet of the coating medium and a suction channel. By this arrangement a flow velocity gradient between the workpiece to be coated and the profile area is realized with the resulting pressure gradient from the profiled area toward the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4637339
Abstract: An electrode arrangement for a coating installation which functions with the aid of an electric field. The electrode arrangement includes a pair of electrodes for creating an electrostatic field with at least one of the electrodes being fashioned with a sharp edge or tip. The electrode is disposed in a conduit and excess pressure or a vacuum is applied to the conduit with respect to the pressure in the coating chamber of the coating installation in an area of the electrode so that the coating medium is either prevented from coming into contact with the electrode or is suctioned off through the conduit system. By virtue of the provision of the suction removal means for the excess coating medium, the conduit system can be placed in direct communication with the ambient pressure. Additionally, the electrode may be arranged in a vacuum zone of the coating chamber.
