  • Method and apparatus for making a spiral pipe

    Abstract: In fabricating a spiral pipe, a pipe section is pressed in the direction of the pipe axis over an expansion mandrel in a press. The expansion mandrel is spirally curved at least in one end region and provides fast and precise shaping of spiral of any pitch. The method provides that the pipe section carries out relative rotation between the expansion mandrel and the pipe section about the pipe axis. An apparatus to implement the method provides that a press ram which is used to move the pipe section forward, and/or the expansion mandrel, are designed to provide relative rotation therebetween.
