    Abstract: The present application provides a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal optical element containing the same, where the liquid crystal composition includes at least one compound of formula I, at least one compound of formula II, at least one compound of formula III, and/or at least one compound of formula IV. The liquid crystal composition may further include a chiral agent and a photosensitizer. The present invention further provides a liquid crystal optical element including the liquid crystal composition of the present invention. By using the liquid crystal composition of the present invention to fabricate a liquid crystal optical element, the difficulty of the fabrication process for a polymerizable cholesteric liquid crystal optical element can be reduced, and the diffraction efficiency of the optical element can be improved.
