    Abstract: A switching adapter control method for adaptive mobile power systems is composed of reference current generator, current mode error compensator, controllable constant turn-off timer, PWM generator and MOSFET driver. The output of the switching adapter can show constant current and voltage characteristics, that means, as the DC bus voltage is over a preset voltage, the adaptor's output characteristic is converted from a constant current source into a constant voltage source with the preset voltage. For low output capacitance case, the present invention has the ability to smoothly reduce the switching frequency of the switching adaptor and reduce the switching losses and meet Energy Star 2.0 requirements under different load conditions. And the output ripple current and voltage can be in the allowed range.

    Abstract: An embodiment of a power-supply controller includes a signal combiner and a control circuit. The signal combiner is operable to generate a combined feedback signal from sense and output feedback signals that are respectively derived from a sense signal and a regulated output signal, and the signal combiner is operable to receive the sense signal from a sense circuit that is operable to generate the sense signal while a current is flowing through an inductor and while a switch that is disposed between the inductor and an input voltage has a first state. The sense signal generated by the sense circuit is related to the current, and the switch and the inductor are operable to generate the regulated output signal. The control circuit is coupled to the signal combiner and is operable to cause the switch to have a second state for a predetermined time in response to the combined feedback signal having a predetermined relationship to a reference signal.

    Abstract: A an engine management system includes a processor (8) in communication with a memory (10) that contains a program memory (28) containing instructions for the processor to implement a knock detection method. The knock detection method involves firstly sampling a torque sensor (4) that is responsive to an engine crankshaft (5). The torque sensor is sampled a number of times during a combustion stroke of one or more of cylinders (18a, . . . 18d) of the engine (16). The sampled sensor values are processed to calculate a rate of change of the torque signal and knocking is deemed to be indicated in the event of the rate of change exceeding a predetermined value. In a preferred embodiment the processor (8) is further programmed to reduce knocking once it has been detected by adjusting one or more of a number of controllers including a fuel injection controller (34), an ignition controller (12), a throttle controller (13) and an exhaust gas recirculation controller (39).
