    Abstract: Power electronics modules having modular jet impingement assembly utilized to cool heat generating devices are disclosed. The modular jet impingement assemblies include a modular manifold having a distribution recess, one or more angled inlet connection tubes positioned at an inlet end of the modular manifold that fluidly couple the inlet tube to the distribution recess and one or more outlet connection tubes positioned at an outlet end of the modular manifold that fluidly coupling the outlet tube to the distribution recess. The modular jet impingement assemblies include a manifold insert removably positioned within the distribution recess and include one or more inlet branch channels each including an impinging slot and one or more outlet branch channels each including a collecting slot. Further a heat transfer plate coupled to the modular manifold, the heat transfer plate comprising an impingement surface including an array of fins that extend toward the manifold insert.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the continuous operation of an air conditioning unit or climate control system in a vehicle. The system may include a power generating unit, such as an engine or a fuel cell stack, and an exhaust loop in fluid communication with the power generating unit. First and second adsorption-based thermal batteries are provided in thermal communication with the exhaust loop. The vehicle may be configured to simultaneously operate in both an air conditioning operational mode powered by the first thermal battery, and a charging operational mode that regenerates the second thermal battery. A thermoelectric generator may also be provided such that the system is entirely self-powered, reducing or eliminating a need for supplemental, i.e. plug-in, charging.

    Abstract: A system for cooling a vehicle compartment using a twin cell thermal battery and waste heat. Cool air from the evaporators of a twin cell thermal battery system is used to chill a compartment, such as an icebox in a trunk or a cabin of a vehicle. The energy needed to create the cooling effect for the cool compartment comes directly from the waste heat of vehicle exhaust gas. The system provides for the air conditioning and charging mode to work simultaneously because of a twin cell battery configuration. A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is also provided in addition to the twin cell battery thereby making the system self-powered. The system uses energy that would otherwise be lost to the environment to provide a cooling source within the vehicle.

    Abstract: An electronic device and a power protection method are provided. The electronic device includes a transfer port, a switch, a first detecting unit and a second detecting unit. The transfer port provides a driving voltage to an external device. The switch is coupled between the transfer port and a supply power source, and the switch is selectively turned off according to at least one of a first control signal and a second control signal. The first detecting unit generates the first control signal when a voltage drop of the driving voltage exceeds a threshold voltage. The second detecting unit generates a sampling voltage by detecting the driving voltage and generates the second control signal when the sampling voltage is lower than a first reference voltage. The electronic device can provide a power protection when an external device is plugged in/out the transfer port.

    Abstract: A portal ultrasound imaging apparatus having an adjustable hinge assembly, which includes a key having a narrower end and an end wider in the circumferential direction of the hinge assembly. The key is movable in a slot in an axial direction of the hinge assembly to a locked position, where the side surfaces of the key presses against the walls of the slot to eliminate circumferential gaps between the key and the slot. When at the locked position in the slot, the key can be pushed towards the opposite of the axial direction to an unlocked position where an angular lock of the hinge assembly is released, allowing the hinge assembly to be adjusted to a desired angular coupling. The key can then be pushed in the axial direction back to the locked position in the slot to prevent change in the coupling angle of the hinge assembly.

The large-size block comprises an integer multiple of the small-size blocks. The small-size blocks are then processed in parallel using a small-size block ME processing algorithm. An embodiment apparatus includes a processor configured to implement the method for large-size block ME processing using small-size block ME processing logic, and a shared memory register for storing at different times the 16×16 blocks.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are discussed to localize facial landmarks using a test facial image and a set of training images. The landmarks can be localized on a test facial image using training facial images. A plurality of candidate landmark locations on the test facial image can be determined. A subset of the training facial images with facial features similar to the facial features in the test facial image can be identified. A plurality of shape constraints can be determined for each test facial image in the subset of test facial images. These shape constraints graphically relate to one landmark location from a linear combination of the other landmark locations in the test facial image. Shape constraints can be determined for every landmark within each test facial image. A candidate landmark can be chosen from the plurality of candidate landmarks using the shape constraints.
