  • Patent number: 4902119
Abstract: An eyeglass frame includes ring-like lens mounting portions joined together by a bridge defining a medial cavity. A nose engaging piece has nose engaging pad portions joined together by an intermediate bight portion and also includes means for biasing the nose pad portions away from each other. A pair of opposed hinged arms are interconnected by interlocking hinge members disposed in the medial cavity of the bridge member and free ends of the arms are engaged with the nose engaging pad portions. Deflection of one nose pad portion results in a similar, complementary deflection of the other nose pad portion, thus providing a conformance to the shape of a wearer's nose which, in combination with the bias force of the saddle piece, provide a greatly improved wearing comfort.

  • Patent number: 4834523
Abstract: Eyeglasses of a type which permit interchanging of lenses are disclosed which employ a collapsible frame having a pair of hingedly interconnected lens-mounting portions. The lens-mounting portions are configured to engage the peripheral edge of the lens and include several prongs. The peripheral edge of the lenses include prong-receiving recesses which position the lenses relative to the frame to provide secure mounting thereto. The lens-mounting portions of the frame also include a separable connection wherein a mounting lug mounted to one part of the section is received in a socket formed at an end of an opposing section. The separable connection allows the lens-mounting portions to open, facilitating mounting and removal of the lenses, and close so as to provide secure mounting of the lens relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4822158
Abstract: Eyeglasses of the type which permit interchanging of framed lenses are disclosed which employ a lens assembly including a pair of lenses mounted in a frame. The frame, in turn, is releasably mounted to a backing support which supports the upper portion of the frame and includes a retaining clip pivotally mounted between an open position permitting easy mounting of the lens assembly, and a second closed position which maintains engagement between the lens and backing assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4230332
Abstract: A bicycle frame is comprised of a hollow panel extending between and secured to the tubular steering column and the tubular seat column in lieu of the hollow tubing ordinarily found in bicycle frames. The hollow panel divides into two parallel spaced apart hollow panels which taper downwardly and rearwardly from the tubular seat column to define at the end thereof a support for the rear wheel axle of the bicycle. The hollow panels are each formed from two curved walls joined together along inturned edges with each wall comprised of a lightweight lamination. A seat is vertically adjustable within the tubular seat column and a piston within the tubular seat column is operably connected to the seat so that upon loosening of the seat, reciprocation of the seat and piston will pump air under pressure outwardly through a hose connected at the bottom of the column and detachably secured to the underside of the hollow panel which constitutes the frame.

  • Patent number: 4183206
Abstract: A portable watch and compass device is provided which has a separate housing for the watch and compass. The housing for the watch is arranged above the compass housing and is movable about a hinge axis extending parallel to the longitudinal extent of a person's arm wearing the watch as a wristwatch. With the housings arranged one above the other and separately from one another, and with the further provision of a mirror at the underside of the watch housing, the watch housing can be selectively hingedly moved to an adjusted open and locked position to accommodate convenient reading of the compass without interference by the watch face characters and the like.
