Publication number: 20140028208Abstract: Apparatus and methods for a light source electronic transformer. In an embodiment, a lamp includes a light source and an electronic ballast. The electronic ballast includes a main power converter, a controllable starter circuit, a transformer, a ballast control integrated circuit (IC) connected to the controllable starter circuit and having an output connected to the transformer, and an IC power converter connected to the transformer and having an output connected to the ballast control IC. When the light source is to be switched ON, the controllable starter circuit receives power from the main power converter and provides a high energy output. The ballast control IC outputs a power control signal to the transformer that illuminates the light source and the transformer to provide supply power to the IC power converter. The electronic ballast is configured such that after the light source illuminates the controllable starter circuit powers OFF.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2012Publication date: January 30, 2014Inventors: Márton Nedermann, Ferenc Fazekas, Géza Zoltán Cseh

Patent number: 8525409Abstract: A lamp includes a light transmissive envelope comprising two spaced apart elliptical portions that together form a hollow interior. The envelope has sealed end portions. Leads are in electrical contact with the filament near the end portions of the envelope for providing power to the lamp. There is a central portion of the envelope that spaces apart the elliptical portions. An electrically conductive filament is disposed in the interior of the envelope. The filament includes coiled-coil portions disposed in the elliptical portions in a coiled-coil shape and a single coil interval portion disposed between the coiled-coil portions at the central portion of the envelope. At least one filament support positions the filament near a center of the envelope. Gas is contained in the interior of the envelope.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2011Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Geza Zoltan Cseh, Ferenc Fazekas, Peter Lajos Nagy, Laszlo Balla, Bela Mezei

Patent number: 8188657Abstract: A technique for mounting single or double ended quartz halogen or HID burner on threaded incandescent lamp base facilitating high volume production and use of existing manufacturing equipment. The pinched end portion of the burner is received in a slot formed in an end of a ceramic tubelet and secured therein and supported thereon by cementing or elastic adhesive bond material. The tubelet has its opposite end secured over a reduced diameter portion of a stem extending from the incandescent lamp base. An outer bulb of translucent or transparent material is received over the base-burner sub-assembly and the bulb secured to the base.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2009Date of Patent: May 29, 2012Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Geza Zoltan Cseh, Ferenc Fazekas, Peter Lajos Nagy

Publication number: 20090134793Abstract: A lamp, such as a halogen lamp, includes a bulb which is sealed to define an interior chamber. An emitter, such as a filament, is disposed within the interior chamber which, during operation of the lamp, emits radiation in the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum. An optical grating, generally spaced from the emitter, is positioned to intercept radiation from the emitter. The optical grating reflects infrared radiation and transmits visible radiation therethrough. In this way, the output of the lamp in the visible range can be increased as compared with an otherwise identical lamp formed without the grating.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2007Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: Geza Z. Patent number: 7253632Abstract: In a method for qualifying an electric circuit having at least one contact, a reference function of thermoelectric voltage versus time of a faultless electric circuit is provided. The circuit is heated by at least one measuring electric impulse. Thermoelectric-voltage-versus-time data of the electric circuit is acquired. The circuit is qualified based on the differences between the acquired data and the reference function. Additionally, in a method for localizing a weak or bad contact of an electric circuit, the circuit is heated by at least one measuring electric impulse, and thermoelectric-voltage-versus-time data of the circuit is acquired. The acquired data is then compared to reference functions of thermoelectric voltage versus time data of known circuits with weak or bad contacts. The weak or bad contact of the circuit is localized in accordance with the similarities between the acquired data and the reference functions.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2005Date of Patent: August 7, 2007Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: István Magai, Ferenc Fazekas

Publication number: 20070035249Abstract: A lamp with an inner capsule having lead wires comprises an outer envelope, a lamp base at the end of the outer envelope, a stem formed at the base in a location predetermined relative to the outer envelope of the lamp, and lead-out wires protruding out of the stem. The inner capsule has a pinch portion and lead-in wires protruding out of the inner capsule at least partially parallel to the central plane of the pinch portion. The lead-in wires and the lead-out wires constitute pairs of lead wires providing mechanical and electrical connection between the stem and the inner capsule. Each pair of lead wires comprises a substantially straight wire of a predetermined diameter and a spooled wire of a spooling core diameter being not smaller than said predetermined diameter, and the pairs are mounted by pushing the straight wire through the core of the spooled wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2005Publication date: February 15, 2007Inventors: Geza Cseh, Peter Nagy, Ferenc Fazekas

Publication number: 20050206391Abstract: A method for qualifying an electric circuit having at least one electric joint or contact is disclosed. A reference function of thermoelectric voltage versus time of a faultless electric circuit is provided. Then, the electric circuit to be qualified is heated by at least one measuring electric impulse. The next step is acquiring the thermoelectric-voltage-versus-time data of the electric circuit. Subsequent steps are: comparing the acquired thermoelectric-voltage-versus-time data to the reference function, and qualifying the electric circuit based on the differences between the acquired data and the reference function. As another aspect of the invention, a method for localizing a weak or bad contacting joint or contact of an electric circuit is also disclosed. Reference functions of thermoelectric voltage versus time of different possible locations of the weak or bad contacting joint or contact of the electric circuit are provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2005Publication date: September 22, 2005Inventors: Istvan Magai, Ferenc Fazekas
