  • Publication number: 20090223266
Abstract: The present invention relates to an environmentally friendly method for deodorizing and rendering innocuous biologically contaminated sludge or slurry—primarily municipal wastewater sludge or liquid manure—containing up to 10% of solid matter with aerobic stabilization. The method comprises adding adsorbent carbonaceous mineral material having a particle size of less than or equal to 5 mm to the sludge or slurry and processing the obtained mixture by wet grinding to form a stable suspension in such a way that the solid content of the mixture is ground to particles having a particle size of less than 200 ?m and the living organisms are lysed.

  • Patent number: 4368273
Abstract: Red mud from alumina plants, normally considered useless waste, is made into useful ceramics articles by mixing 51-90% by weight of red mud with 10-49% by weight of at least one mineral and/or silicate containing material, shaping the mixture and firing it at a temperature of 950.degree.-1250.degree. • Patent number: 4151267
Abstract: Pure alumina is produced from aluminum metal by steps of activation by stripping the oxide layer in an acidic aqueous medium; washing in a neutral medium; reacting in a neutral, acidic or alkaline medium to give hydrated alumina; and igniting the hydrated alumina.

  • Patent number: 4092560
Abstract: A cermet seal for high pressure gas discharge lamps which also serves as an electrode, is made from a metallic component suitable for use as an electrode, and a ceramic component which is a metal oxide, by mixing the ingredients in a powdered form, then molded, prefired and then final-fired in a protective atmosphere by sintering into an electrically conductive, vacuum-dense polycrystalline body.
