  • Patent number: 9371588
Abstract: The present invention relates to the application of polymeric resins and TiO2 doped with polymeric resins as coatings for external metal surfaces for industrial use, by selecting the following metals: stainless steel, carbon steel and copper. Focuses specifically on the synthesis of a polymeric resin waterborne corrosion consisting of nano-structured polymer particles formed with two or more acrylic monomers, vinyl or styrenic a functionalizing agent and a crosslinking agent from 1.0 to 20% w each. Doping addition is made of the same polymeric resins, which are incorporated in nanotubes of titanium dioxide in concentrations ranging from 50 to 10,000 ppm. The polymeric resin is water based corrosion synthesized by emulsion polymerization techniques and is during the synthesis process is introduced nanotube loading of titanium dioxide, which allowing the dispersion in the polymer matrix. Polymer dispersions obtained in this way are used as anti-corrosion coatings 100% water based.

  • Publication number: 20150157961
Abstract: The present invention relates to the application based on alkyl acrylate homopolymers, such as antifoaming agents in crude oils with densities of 10 to 40° API. Evaluation tests in “live” crude oil, under similar gas-liquid separation equipment conditions, showed that these polymers based on alkyl acrylate are effective foaming inhibitors in heavy and super-heavy crude oils, reducing the foam between 15 and 50% faster compared to crude oil without an antifoaming agent. Some acrylics show better performance than commercial silicon-based polymers, which suppress foam 20-25% faster than the blank. The antifoaming agents of this invention, based on alkyl acrylate and totally free of silicon, is an advantageous option, to replace the silicone-based foam inhibitors currently on the market.

  • Publication number: 20150067828
Abstract: Solutions are disclosed for simplified user access to IEDs in industrial or utility operating environments such as those compatible with IEC 62351-8, having an LHMI with a restricted IED key set. A central Access Enabler assigns a short and temporary session secret to a previously authenticated user, and forwards the session secret to an IED for subsequent local user validation by the IED. A user session at the IED is remotely initiated by the Access Enabler, with the IED screen being instantaneously locked by the session secret.

  • Publication number: 20140364566
Abstract: A chemical synthesis process is provided for the functionalization of monodispersed triblock copolymer (POEw-POPy-POEw) with secondary or tertiary amines at a semi-industrial level in glass reactors having a capacity between 1 L and 100 L. The process includes two stages where the first stage uses an alkylsulfonyl or arylsulfonyl chloride to obtain better leaving groups, and the second stage is the nucleophilic substitution with secondary or tertiary amines, to obtain the bifunctionalized triblock copolymers. The main advantage for this process is to reduce the quantity of unitary process done in each stage, the optimization of reaction times, and the stoichiometric relationships.

  • Patent number: 8343105
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-size catheter for use in biliary endoscopic procedures. The multi-size catheter comprises an outer diameter defined by a plurality of superimposed peelable layers. The peelable layers allow the multi-size catheter to function as a single operator exchange catheter without the need, and additional expense, of an endoscope sheath. Before positioning the multi-size catheter within the working channel of an endoscope, the peelable layers may be selectively removed in order to obtain an outer diameter for the catheter that is less than, but approximate to, the inner diameter of the working channel of the endoscope. The resulting fit eliminates the potential for a guidewire to slip out of the guidewire channel and become pinched between the catheter and the endoscope working channel. With an incorrect fit, a pinched guidewire would restrict the desired movements of both the guidewire and the catheter.

  • Patent number: 8187217
Abstract: A conduit is provided to provide a bypass around a blockage in the coronary artery. The conduit is adapted to be positioned in the myocardium or heart wall to provide a passage for blood to flow between a chamber of the heart such as the left ventricle and the coronary artery, distal to the blockage. The stent is self-expanding or uses a balloon to expand the stent in the heart wall. Various attachment means are provided to anchor the stent and prevent its migration. In one embodiment, a conduit is provided having a distal top which is more preferably a ball top, wire top, flare top or flip-down top. These top configurations anchor the shunt at one end in the coronary artery.
