  • Publication number: 20250367967
Abstract: A wheel hub bearing unit includes a hub rotatable about an axis and having a flange connectable with a wheel, an outboard inner raceway and an inboard inner raceway. An outer ring is disposed about the hub, connectable with the vehicle and has an outboard outer raceway and an inboard inner raceway. Each outer raceway has a midpoint circle and a contact angle of each outer raceway is defined by a separate line perpendicular to the raceway through the midpoint circle, the two lines intersecting at a vertex point. A midpoint spacing line extends axially between the raceway midpoint circles and the vertex point is spaced axially from a center of the spacing line by no greater than five millimeters. Each contact angle is between ten and twenty-five degrees and the difference between the radii of the two midpoint circles is between three and ten millimeters.

  • Publication number: 20230106078
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a wheel hub bearing unit includes providing a bearing ring having at least one raceway surface, the bearing ring preferably being a bearing outer ring which is preferably formed of a steel having a carbon content of between about 0.55% by weight and 0.60% by weight. The bearing ring is carbonitrided within a furnace having an enclosed atmosphere containing ammonia gas. The bearing ring is then tempered by heating the ring to at least five hundred degrees Celsius (500° F.). Next, the induction hardening the at least one raceway surface of the ring is induction hardened, preferably by means of special inductor coil. Finally, the raceway surface(s) of the ring is machined to desired final dimensions and surface finish.

  • Patent number: 5053686
Abstract: A direct current, brushless, biphase motor with four unipolar windings and electronic drive, presents a geometry of the teeth and of the magnet generated field so that in each winding a trapezoidal e.m.f. is generated to allow the electronic drive to feel or sense the best switching point on the oblique side of such trapezoidal wave without the use of Hall probes; the two phases are embodied to obtain conduction on 180.degree. per winding, thus as two single-phases in parallel; the two single-phases may be embodied in a different way to permit the electronic selection of the use of three distinct motors in the motor: first single-phase, second single-phase and third biphase.
