  • Patent number: 10829067
Abstract: An electrical load management system for a vehicle power supply system having a high voltage network and a low voltage network coupled to each other by a DC-DC converter includes a controller for controlling one or more high voltage vehicle electrical systems connected to the high voltage network and one or more low voltage vehicle electrical systems connected to the low voltage network. The controller has at least one processor that receives command signals for the high and low voltage vehicle electrical systems, and a memory device having instructions stored therein. The at least one processor is configured to determine a first electrical load on the high voltage network and a second electrical load on the low voltage network in dependence on the command signals and to control operation of the high and low voltage vehicle electrical systems in dependence on the determined first and second electrical loads.

  • Patent number: 10352377
Abstract: An illustrative example vehicle torque control system includes a clutch that is at least partially automatically controllable. A manual clutch control means allows a driver to control engagement of the clutch. A clutch control means automatically controls a characteristic of clutch engagement based on a selected drive mode.

  • Patent number: 10150460
Abstract: A method for determining the charge in a battery which comprises providing a main battery and a auxiliary battery. The method then comprises connecting the main battery to an electrical load; measuring I1, the current drawn from the main battery while it is connected to the electrical load; connecting the auxiliary battery in parallel with the main battery and the electrical load; measuring I2, the current drawn from the main battery while it is connected to the electrical load and the auxiliary battery; and estimating the state of charge in the auxiliary battery based upon at least the difference between I1 and I2.

    Assignee: Jaguar Land Rover Limited
Inventors: Krzysztof Slosarczyk, Fernando Lages, Kevin Cockings, Stephen Pickering, Jakub Mikos
  • Patent number: 9597963
Abstract: A method for controlling an electrical system in a vehicle. The electrical system (11) comprises: at least a first switch (ES2) arranged such that operating the switches will isolate a part of the electrical system; and a control unit, the control unit being arranged to operate the switches. The method comprises: putting the control unit into a first operational mode, the first operational mode comprising at least a first arrangement of switches; receiving a request to enter a second operational mode, the second operational mode comprising at least a second arrangement of switches; determining the priority of the first and second operational modes at least in part by consulting a database of operational modes and their priorities; switching the control unit into the second operational mode if the second operational mode has a higher priority than the first operational mode; and continuing in the first operational mode otherwise.
