  • Publication number: 20090057483
Abstract: A fairing for streamlining the junction between the horizontal stabilizer and the fuselage or the fin of an aircraft, comprising an upper fairing shell, a lower fairing shell, a leading edge extension, and several fittings to join the upper and lower fairing shells to the horizontal stabilizer. The upper and lower fairing shells are solid laminates of composite material that are designed with a shape, composition, and thickness such that they can be elastically deformed when they are fitted to the horizontal stabilizer, providing a contact force permitting them to lay permanently in contact with the fuselage or fin. A process for manufacturing the fairing shells.

  • Publication number: 20090059009
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for improving object trackability via parametric camera tuning. In one embodiment, a determination is made as to whether the camera settings loaded cause saturation of a video image and hue differences between objects and between the objects and a background of the video image. If the saturation and hue differences do not exceed the threshold, a search of camera settings is performed to increase saturation and hue differences between objects and between the objects and a background of the video image.

  • Publication number: 20080243793
Abstract: A contact information function associated with a web browser maintains a look-up table of recognizer functions, indexed by regular expressions that specify URLs. Upon a user entering or selecting a URL, the contact information function indexes the look-up table with the URL against the regular expressions. If one or more recognizers are found, the web content returned from the URL is processed by each of the recognizers, which recognize the format of information on that web site, and locate and extract contact information from the web content. The contact information may be saved, formatted, and output to other applications. Updated recognizers may be downloaded from a recognizer server.

  • Publication number: 20070262834
Abstract: The bandpass filter comprises transmission line comprising a conductor strip (2), and, in said transmission line, at least one bandpass filter cell, comprising at least one split-rings resonator (6, 7), inductive element (4, 41) and capacitive element (3). The bandpass filter has a frequency response in which at least one passband can be identified. The conductor strip, split-rings resonator(s), inductive element(s) and capacitive element(s) are dimensioned and arranged so that the bandpass filter, for frequencies within said passband, behaves as a left-handed transmission line for at least one range of frequencies within said passband, and as a right-handed transmission line for at least another range of frequencies within said passband, thus providing for a large bandwidth. The invention also relates to an electronic device including the filter, and to a method of producing it.

  • Patent number: 7283923
Abstract: A method of determining speed of rotation of a motor is provided. The method involves collecting samples with a measuring sensor at a sampling frequency, set on the basis of mechanical vibration of the motor, for the duration of a measurement period and storing the samples in the memory of a data carrier as measurement data of a fixed format. The speed of rotation of the motor is determined from the measurement data by determining the cycle length of a periodic vibration signal in the time domain by a maximum likelihood estimate calculated by maximizing a maximum likelihood function adjusted to the measurement data, the speed of rotation being obtained from the frequency point where the maximum likelihood function obtains its maximum value.

  • Publication number: 20070234356
Abstract: A method and system for support of personal computing in a public computing infrastructure. The system including a plurality of computers to be used by patrons of a public computing infrastructure. The system also includes one or more servers coupled to the plurality of computers via a network connection. Each of the plurality of computers includes a virtual machine monitor. The virtual machine monitor has a plurality of base virtual machine images, each of the base virtual machine images is customized for a particular hardware and software configuration representing a specific computing environment. The virtual machine monitor launches one of the plurality of base virtual machine images, arbitrates access to system resources via the launched virtual machine image, stores the changes in the state of the virtual machine image when a user terminates a session, and returns a computer to an appropriate state to enable the user to resume the terminated session in subsequent sessions.

  • Publication number: 20060023072
Abstract: A method and system are provided. In one embodiment, a video image is preprocessed from a video camera to separate objects to be tracked from the rest of the video image. Statistics for the tracked objects and the rest of the video image are computed. Further, a quality measure based on the statistics for the tracked objects and the rest of the video image are generated. The quality measure indicates the suitability of the video image for use by an object tracking system. The generating of the quality measure maximizes saturation of each of the tracked objects. Further, the video camera is tuned to increase the quality measure beyond a threshold.

  • Patent number: 6952224
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for improving object trackability via parametric camera tuning. According to one embodiment the improving of object trackability comprises loading prior camera settings if any stored prior camera settings are available. If no stored prior camera settings are available, loading one of a plurality of predetermined camera settings. A determination is made whether the camera settings loaded cause saturation of the image and hue differences between objects and between the objects and a background of the video image. If the saturation and hue differences do not exceed the threshold, a search of camera settings is performed to increase saturation and hue differences between objects and between the objects and a background of the video image.

  • Publication number: 20050190835
Abstract: A source model in combination with an interest structure is provided to generate a quantization value for use in encoding a video signal. The interest structure is generated from a region of interest manually identified by a user viewing the video on an interactive user display or automatically by a system which recognizes the regions of interest automatically. The region of interest in the video signal is encoded using a quantization value calculated from the interest structure in combination with the source model, and the region of interest is encoded at a higher resolution level than surrounding regions.

  • Patent number: 6917701
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for obtaining a first image and a second image defining a convergent stereo image, and constructing a three-dimensional images based on the obtained first and second images. In one embodiment, a deflector, such as a prism, is rotably mounted about an axis, and first and second inputs received by the deflector are deflected towards a receptor at or proximate to the axis. In one embodiment, the axis and the deflector are perpendicular to a rotation plane, and the first and second inputs are tangential to a region defined by the rotation of the deflector about the axis, opposing each other, and parallel to the rotation plane. The first and second images are respectively determined with respect to first and second inputs received as the deflector rotates about the axis.
