Abstract: A knife has a knife handle and a blade, the blade being extendable and retractable in relation to the knife handle. A reinforcing part is provided which can support an extended portion of the blade, and is movable in respect of the knife handle and is detachably connected to the blade. Alternatively, the knife has a blade-moving carriage and/or a reinforcing part-moving carriage and a latching holder for latch-adjusting different extended positions of the blade is provided. In another embodiment, the blade-moving carriage has a holding magnet for holding cooperation with the blade. In yet another embodiment, a closing cap is arranged on the knife handle at the rear end of the blade, the closing cap closing the movement path for the blade-moving carriage and/or the reinforcement part-moving carriage.
