    Abstract: A method for operating an operating system which generates and displays a graphical user interface. The graphical user interface includes a first representation with a front side representation of a planar graphical object. An operating action for the graphical object is detected and a transition animation is generated and displayed. Following the transition animation, a second representation with a rear side representation of the graphical object is displayed, the transition animation includes a rotation, shown in perspective, of the graphical object about an axis, and the rear side representation of the graphical object assuming a smaller area than the front side representation. The second representation also includes an information region, and the representation of the graphical object is made smaller during the transition animation. Also disclosed is an operating system having a control unit, a display surface, and a detection unit.

The operator control system has at least two states, wherein each state has an associated specific detail of the graphical user interface. When one of the at least two states of the operator control system is activated, the detail of the graphical user interface associated with the activated state is displayed, and a state information element is actuated so the activated state of the operator control system is output. The state information element includes an outline of a geometric figure and the activated state is a basis for highlighting a segment of the outline.

Actuation of a user control element is detected after the symbol for the further vehicle has been displayed. An actuation signal is received from the further vehicle indicating that a user of the further vehicle has actuated a corresponding control element of the further vehicle on account of a symbol for the further vehicle and a symbol for the vehicle being displayed on a display device of the further vehicle.
