  • Patent number: 7310890
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically measuring the internal and external profile of pipes (1) at the ends thereof is described, wherein sensors (11a, 11b) measure for each angle of rotation of their support (10) the distance of the corresponding profile, there being provided means for regulating in height the axis of rotation of said support, which is rotatably mounted on a slide (13) slidable in a direction parallel to the axis (X-X) of the pipe to be measured. The measuring system also comprises the processing of the detected data in order to attribute a classification code to the end of the measured pipe.

  • Patent number: 6085567
Abstract: The invention relates to a rolling stand of the type with crossed rolls, for flat products, which comprises at least two working rolls opposed to one another. These rolls are angularly adjustable and such an adjustment is effected by rotating them about a vertical axis of the stand.Advantageously, the actuators which serve to maintain the working rolls at a predetermined distance from one another following to the thickness of the material to be rolled, are solid with the rotations of the rolls themselves: in this way the stresses which the rolls transmit to the actuators during rolling are independent of their angular adjustment and are therefore always balanced.

  • Patent number: 6041635
Abstract: A rolling mill for rolling pipes on a mandrel (40) is formed by an alignment of rolling units according to the invention, each rolling unit comprises an outer annular structure (2) formed by at least two plate-shaped elements (3) connected rigidly to one another and housing a roll carrier (10) on which the rolling units (27,28,29), supported by respective pivoting lever arms (19,20,21), are disposed. Each roll carrier (10) can be removed transversely from its rolling unit which, for this purpose, is provided with guides (15) in addition to a loading-unloading device (50) on which the removed carrier is placed. The outer annular structure (2) enables the rolling unit and the corresponding rolling mill better to withstand the radial stresses produced during working, the replacement of the rolls of the respective carriers (10) at the same time being simplified by virtue of their lateral movement.

  • Patent number: 5765423
Abstract: The inventive relates to a rolling unit (5) for rolling rod-shaped or tubular bodies, such as pipes, hollow sections bars, wires etc. The unit (5) is provided with three or more working rolls (20) which have respective rotation axes (A1, A2, A3) lying in a perpendicular plane to a rolling axis (L) along which the unit (5) is disposed. Advantageously, the rolls (20) are mounted on corresponding swinging arms arranged to oscillate in respective planes, perpendicular to the rotation axes (A1, A2, A3) of the corresponding rolls (20) and containing the rolling axis (L). Such a rolling unit can prevent any uncontrolled thermal expansions induced in the swinging arm by the high temperatures sometimes involved in the process, by keeping the rolls in a symmetrical position with respect to the plane of oscillation of the respective arm.

  • Patent number: 5331835
Abstract: A rolling stand includes a roller-carrier substantially in the form of a ring-shaped body having the rollers journalled on its interior; the roller-carrier is slidable along a longitudinal rolling axis L between an operative position occupied during the rolling process, where it is locked inside an outer structure of the rolling stand, and a non-operative position where it is removed from the structure. Provided within the rolling stand are guide means for guiding the roller-carrier movement along the axis L and means of locking the roller-carrier in the operative position.

  • Patent number: 4593807
Abstract: Equipment for transferring pipes from one roller track to an adjacent parallel roller track includes at least two transfer units, each of which comprises a pipe chute extending transversely to the roller tracks and movable angularly between a lowered position below the tracks and a raised position above the tracks. In the raised position the chute is inclined downwardly, so that a pipe lifted by the chute rolls along the latter and comes to rest on a curvilinear end portion of the chute when it reaches a position above the roller track onto which the pipe is to be transferred.

  • Patent number: 4488421
Abstract: A mandrel-carrier head for fixed-mandrel continuous rolling mill has a horizontal hook portion engageable with the tail of the mandrel. This portion has a U-section in the direction of the rolling axis. One of the limbs or a part thereof is movable towards and away from the other limb, so as to lock the tail of the mandrel previously positioned between the limbs.

  • Patent number: 4470285
Abstract: A billet centering and control guide for an entry guide for a PPM, which is of the rectilinear-tunnel type and is formed by two L-shaped portions which are hinged together about an axis parallel to the axis of the guide. The control guide can be opened essentially like a valve to allow the removal of a billet which may be trapped therein.
