  • Patent number: 11120267
Abstract: A system and method for managing packages may include determining an identifier on a package. A determination as to whether the package is to be positioned on a pallet based on the identifier may be made. In response to determining that the package is not to be positioned on the pallet, a first feedback signal (e.g., red light) indicative to the operator that the package is not to be placed on the pallet may be generated. In response to determining that the package is to be positioned on the pallet, a second feedback signal (e.g., green light) that is indicative to the operator that the package is to be on the pallet may be generated or no signal may be generated. Additionally, if an identifier cannot be read from the package, then a third feedback signal (e.g., yellow light) may be generated and illuminated on the package or elsewhere.

  • Patent number: 10229301
Abstract: In a method and system for acquiring image data for detection of optical codes located on objects carried by a conveyor system, a conveyor system has an imager that includes a sensor and an optics arrangement disposed with respect to the sensor to direct light from a field of view to the sensor so that the sensor outputs image data. A processor system receives image data. The processor system determines a position of an object in a field of view with respect to the conveyor's direction of travel, based upon the determined position of the object in the field of view, and upon a predetermined distance between the object and the optics, defines a region that bounds the image data at least with respect to the direction of travel, and that encompasses a position the object would have in the image data if the object is at the determined position in the field of view and at the distance from the optics, with respect to the object.

  • Patent number: 9131163
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments are directed to methods, systems, and circuits of generating compact descriptors for transmission over a communications network. A method according to one embodiment includes receiving an uncompressed descriptor, performing zero-thresholding on the uncompressed descriptor to generate a zero-threshold-delimited descriptor, quantizing the zero-threshold-delimited descriptor to generate a quantized descriptor, and coding the quantized descriptor to generate a compact descriptor for transmission over a communications network. The uncompressed and compact descriptors may be 3D descriptors, such as where the uncompressed descriptor is a SHOT descriptor. The operation of coding can be ZeroFlag coding, ExpGolomb coding, or Arithmetic coding, for example.
