  • Patent number: 4539944
Abstract: This invention relates to a temperature-controlling system for the liquid coolant of an internal-combustion engine, which provides three sensing members for the temperature of said liquid in the outlet conduit from the cylinder block. Said sensors are intended to drive a valve which controls the flow of the liquid through a conduit which by-passes the radiator, a vane which controls the flow of air through a port formed through the car body, and a fan which cools said radiator respectively.

    Assignee: Alfa Romeo Auto S.p.A.
    Inventors: Giampaolo Garcea, Filippo Surace
  • Patent number: 4494761
Abstract: This invention relates to a lubricating oil seal device for a rotating shaft support bearing, which is arranged to prevent the emergence of said oil from a collection chamber disposed at one end of the bearing, by means of a stream of air created in an annular meatus provided in the passage which communicates with said chamber.

  • Patent number: 4429671
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for automatically adjusting the spark advance for controlling the idling r.p.m. in an internal combustion engine, of the type controlled by first sensor means connected by a first connection to the intake duct upstream of the throttle valve. Said device also comprises a second connection to said duct downstream of said valve, said second connection being controlled by a solenoid valve controlled by second sensor means for determining the engine rotational speed, and third sensor means for determining the throttle valve position.

  • Patent number: 4429666
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle driven by an internal-combustion engine housed in a compartment, the latter having at least one opening (24) through which the flow of air is controlled by a vane (22) which is operatively connected to means (25) sensing the temperature of the engine-cooling fluid.

  • Patent number: 3982512
Abstract: In an electronic system for an explosion engine, a device for automatically adjusting the spark timing, wherein a follower is kept into contact with a three-dimensional cam having a surface shaped; with lifts representing the desired timing angle of the spark delivery with respect to an angular position of the drive shaft, said follower and said cam being mutually displaced in two directions orthogonal to each other and to the cam lifts as a function of variables representative of the engine operation, more particularly the engine r.p.m.

  • Patent number: 3953049
Abstract: A safety device for motor car passengers adapted for protecting the passenger's head in the case of collision. The safety device comprises a protective strip which unfolds itself in a spatial form generated by rotation of a U-shaped line about an axis passing through the ends of the U-shaped line. The axis is horizontal and transverse with respect to the vehicle and is at the level of the head, behind the latter. At the instant of impact, the strap is inflated by a pressurized gas and is unfolded so as to become positioned in front of the passenger's head to protect the same.
