  • Patent number: 5565652
Abstract: An electrical power transmission line is particularly adapted for the transmission of electrical power from relatively small and remotely located hydroelectric sites and over rugged terrain. The line has a plurality of conducting elements, preferably assembled from copper tubing or pipe with loosely fitting slip joints to allow for thermal expansion, with concentric outer insulating elements of polyvinyl chloride pipe or tubing, which insulating elements are hermetically sealed together. The conducting element is spaced apart from the inner walls of the insulating element by plural spacers installed therebetween, to provide an air gap between conductor and insulator.

  • Patent number: 5388378
Abstract: A system for securing a building structure, and various components of a building structure, to one another and/or to the building foundation or ground, is provided. The system includes apparatus for securing shingles against wind damage on a sloped, shingled roof; apparatus for securing the roof structure of a building to the adjacent upper wall structure; and apparatus for securing the roof structure directly to the foundation of the building or to the ground. The system is particularly adaptable to single and two story residential dwellings, such as single family homes and townhouses, and their related structures, such as garages and sheds, having sloped, shingled roofs. Installation of the complete system of the present invention provides substantial additional security for a structure against storm damage, particularly due to high winds.

  • Patent number: 5311166
Abstract: A security system for a vestibule and, more specifically, a security vestibule is equipped with monitoring devices to monitor the presence of an intruder. The monitoring devices transmit signals to warning devices, such as a speaker which broadcasts an audible message as well as a siren and a flashing light which produce audible and visual signals, respectively, to attract attention exteriorly of the vestibule. The monitoring devices further transmit signals to deterrent devices which disturb or offend the perpetrator. The devices are of the type which disperse foul scents, dispense dyes to mark the perpetrator, disperse water at varying temperatures, and discharge electrical shock.

  • Patent number: 4250868
Abstract: A control system adapted to be secured to a solid fuel burner, such as a fireplace or a stove, to create and regulate forced fluid heat exchange and forced draft in the burner. The system comprises an electrical draft inducer/damper mounted in the burner flue, a fluid heat exchanger mounted over the burner firebox, and a control apparatus capable of deactivating the draft inducer/damper and the heat exchanger, automatically damping the flue, when combustion in the burner subsides. The control system, including the draft inducer/damper and heat exchanger, may be incorporated with a solid fuel burner, thus comprising a heating system.
