Publication number: 20090151258Abstract: A locking mechanism for a child safety barrier (1) may be activated by a foot pedal (6) which can only be operated when an auxiliary lock (8) has been activated. The auxiliary lock (8) is formed by a mechanical unit, which has an electrical receiver (8a) which, when receiving an electrical signal, e.g. an electromagnetic signal from a transmitter (9), can activate the auxiliary lock (8), following which the foot pedal (6) may be activated. The transmitter (9) may be incorporated in a remote control unit of the hand-held type, or it may be mounted on a wall, where an adult can activate the transmitter, e.g. by an elbow. The transmitter may also be a unit which continuously transmits electromagnetic signals which activate the auxiliary lock when they are interrupted.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2006Publication date: June 18, 2009Inventor: Finn Andersen

Patent number: 7281300Abstract: A hinge for a child safety barrier, consisting of first (1, 9) and second (2, 10) bracket parts, wherein the first bracket part is formed with a pin (4) whose free end is formed with a shoulder (5). The second bracket part (2, 10) is formed with a hole (7) with two sections, where the first section has a larger diameter than the second section. This provides an edge between the two sections, which, together with the shoulder (5) of the pin, serves as a lock between the two bracket parts. If the length of the pin is larger than the length of the section of the smallest diameter, then the two hinge parts may be displaced relative to each other in the direction of the pin, which is an advantage when the hinge is used in connection with child safety barriers. The two bracket parts of the hinge are formed with respective locking parts which cooperate such that when one bracket part is displaced relative to the other bracket part, the bracket parts may be rotated relative to each other.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2003Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Assignee: Baby Dan A/SInventors: Finn Andersen, Henrik L. Pedersen, Glenn HĂžjmose

Patent number: 6595498Abstract: A safety barrier device, particularly intended for small children, and comprising at least two fence-like sections which may be interconnected and positioned at an angle, characterized in that the sections are interconnected by hinge links comprising two cooperating toothed rims arranged so that they may be lifted out of engagement, thereby allowing the sections to be freely positioned at an angle. The structure makes it possible to produce fireguards, pens or beds.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2001Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Baby Dan A/SInventor: Finn Andersen

Patent number: 6347483Abstract: A child safety barrier for positioning across an opening includes a frame and a gate which is hinged to the frame and can be swung from a closed position where the gate lies in the plane of the frame to an open position out of the plane, a corner of the barrier including a closing mechanism for engagement with a side of the opening, an upper rod of the gate being connected to a pillar of the frame by a hinge assembly which includes a first hinge part connected to the pillar, a second hinge part connected to the end of upper rod and a pivot pin extending therebetween. The end surface of the second hinge part has an upper flat portion and a lower curved portion, the upper flat portion abutting the pillar when the gate is closed and the lower curved portion allowing opening of the gate when lifted and swung around the pivot pin.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2000Date of Patent: February 19, 2002Inventor: Finn Andersen

Patent number: 6308462Abstract: A child safety barrier for positioning across an opening includes a frame and a gate which is hinged to the frame and can be swung from a closed position where the gate lies in the plane of the frame to an open position out of the plane, the gate including an upper rod having a closing mechanism for locking the gate in a closed position or unlocking the gate to allow it to be opened. The closing mechanism includes a pivotable handle and a spring-loaded locking button which cooperates with the handle to retain it in a position wherein it locks the gate in a closed position.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Inventor: Finn Andersen
