Abstract: A variable electric control controls hydraulic speed control valves. The control includes a reversible DC electric motor coupled to a speed control valve, a detection circuit for detecting the degree to which the valve is opened, and indicator lights for indicating that degree. Electrical limit switches automatically shut off the motor as the valve fully opens or fully closes. A dual-pole, dual-throw actuator switch located at a position remote from the valve controls the electric motor. The indicator lights are located near the actuator switch. The detection circuit, the motor, and the coupling between the valve and the motor are preferably sized and arranged to be positioned on the housing of the valve and, when so positioned, to not extend, in plan, beyond the housing.
