  • Publication number: 20130206780
Abstract: The bulk bin of the present invention comprises four sides and a base. The interior of the bulk bin comprises a substantially smooth and continuous surface, without any sharp or abrupt corners or edges. Each of the sides comprises a top strip portion and a curved wall portion. The top strip is substantially straight in the horizontal direction, whereas the curved wall portion is curved (in a concave manner) in the horizontal direction. A chamfer provides a smooth transition between the relative straightness of the top strip portion and the concavity of the curved wall portion, while maintaining the overall smooth and continuous interior surface of the bulk bin.

  • Patent number: 5535907
Abstract: A bulk container or bin is shown which is used in the storage and long distance transport of materials. The bin is normally moved from location to location by a container ship and for short distance transport, e.g. in a warehouse or the like by a fork lift truck. The bin comprises side walls and a base with a recess or opening in its lower portion below the base, which recess or opening is capable of receiving the "tines" or blades of a fork lift truck fork, there being ribs provided on the underside of the base at the recess and extending in the direction of the recess, the recess having an entrance or mouth at one of the side walls where the height of the ribs is greater than the height of the ribs lying under the major portion of the base. A second wall is provided at the said one side wall at at least close to the entrance to the recess, there being a gap between the two walls, and the ribs extend upwardly to the lower end of the second wall to form an entrance to the opening.

  • Patent number: 5439113
Abstract: A bulk container integrally molded from a plastic material and providing substantially exclusive transfer of vertical loads thru the corners of a lower container during stacking, and increased volumetric capacity. The front, rear and side sections of the container are integrally formed with a bottom wall portion to form a containment volume with a plurality of corners. A plurality of nesting protrusions extend downwardly from the lower portion of the corners and a corresponding plurality of nesting recesses are formed in the upper portion of the corners so that two containers can be vertically stacked with each protrusion mated with a corresponding recess. The corners include reinforcing vertical column portions having inwardly spaced wall portions blending into containment wall portions. The containment wall portions extend outwardly from the inwardly spaced wall portions.
