    Abstract: A method for securing an angular position of a crane jib displaceable in lifting and in lowering by a winch integrating a motor driving a drum on which is wound a rope and secured to a platen provided with arcuate oblong locking holes, the method including measuring a speed parameter representative of an angular speed of the jib, controlling the motor to displace the jib with a limitation of the speed parameter to a first maximum value and a limitation of a motor torque to a first limit value, until reaching an angular position in which a lock is aligned with and locked into the locking hole, and controlling the motor to displace the jib in lowering with a limitation of the speed parameter to a second maximum value and a limitation of the motor torque to a second limit value, until the speed parameter is null for a predetermined time period to stop the motor.

The screwing/unscrewing tool may be used with a screw or bolt that is difficult to access in a crane mast or crane jib.

    Abstract: A crane having a luffing jib and a lifting cylinder includes a cylinder body and a movable rod hinged on the jib to raise and lower the jib, and a locking device adapted to cooperate with the lifting cylinder to mechanically lock the rod in a deployed holding position and block the jib in a raised holding configuration, and further including a spacer hinged on the jib and supporting an abutment, the spacer configured for pivoting between a release position wherein the spacer is offset, authorizing the movable rod to be displaced freely, and a locking position wherein the spacer is folded so that the abutment is able to bear on the cylinder body to fixedly maintain the movable rod in the deployed holding position.
