  • Publication number: 20210280291
Abstract: Computer implemented methods for supporting an operation of a drug delivery device include the steps of: capturing, by a camera of a mobile device, a marker representative of a position of the drug delivery device; transmitting, by the mobile device, camera data of the camera relating to the captured marker to a provider; providing in response to the transmitted camera data, by the provider, drug delivery device data to the mobile device; displaying, by the mobile device, in a camera preview the received drug delivery device data, wherein the displaying may be controlled by a projection of the marker. The drug delivery device data includes instructions to a user relating to an operation of the drug delivery device.

  • Publication number: 20210085880
Abstract: Monitoring an injection process executed by a variable dose injection device with feedback means for generating a number of feedback events proportionate to the dose to be determined is disclosed. A dialed or injected dose is determined by measuring a first signal of the process comprising a first signal peak related to a feedback event; detecting the first signal peak in the first signal; selecting an evaluation interval comprising the detected peak and adapted to an expected peak duration; deriving, from the first signal limited to the evaluation interval, a feature or characterizing parameter of the feedback event; identifying, from the derived feature, the feedback event as one of a dial up, dial down, or expel feedback event, and counting identified feedback events to determine the dialed or the ejected dose. The two-stage approach with serially executed peak detection and peak identification allows to optimize data storage and processing power.

  • Publication number: 20200261654
Abstract: A medical monitoring system increases patient safety and confidence. The system has a disposable injection device with a container holder for holding a container such as a cartridge or a syringe with a liquid drug for subcutaneous injection. The system includes a passive machine-readable tag mounted to a device housing of the injection device and coding or storing drug information about the drug in the container. The system also includes an electronic module or supplemental device releasably attachable to the injection device. The electronic module comprises injection status sensing means for monitoring a status of an injection or for tracking progress of a medication event, as well as a tag reader different from the sensing means for reading drug information from the machine-readable tag. The system includes a drug status signaling or interfacing unit for signaling to a user a drug status based on, or derived from, the drug information.

  • Patent number: 9446193
Abstract: A dosing unit for an ambulatory infusion pump device is presented. The dosing unit comprises a cylinder pump with a cylinder and a piston arranged in the cylinder. The piston has a shaft with a first threaded segment interacting with a threaded portion of the cylinder and can be displaced along a longitudinal axis of the cylinder by rotating the piston in regard to the cylinder around the axis. Furthermore, the piston allows for the relative or absolute determination of the longitudinal and/or rotational displacement of the piston in regard to the cylinder. In one embodiment, the piston shaft comprises a second segment provided with optically detectable markings that allow the monitoring of the longitudinal and/or rotational displacement of the piston in regard to the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 9402951
Abstract: An infusion pump device comprising a primary liquid medicament reservoir, a pump with a secondary reservoir to retrieve medicament from the primary reservoir and to subsequently dose the medicament from the secondary reservoir in adjustable volumes (Vdose,i) to a downstream conduit and a control unit to control the operation of the infusion pump device is presented. For metering the volumes (Vdose,i), the control unit causes the infusion pump device to: (a) determine a maximum refill level (VC,max) for the secondary reservoir, based on external parameters, wherein the maximum refill level does not exceed the maximum capacity of the secondary reservoir; (b) fill the secondary reservoir with medicament from the primary reservoir to the maximum refill level (VC,max); (c) meter and convey the medicament volumes to the downstream conduit; (d) if the secondary reservoir becomes empty, refill the secondary reservoir as in step (b) and continue with step (c).

  • Patent number: 9352865
Abstract: A device for filling a flexible container and a method thereof are disclosed. The device may include a pressurizing chamber and an evacuation chamber. A first displacement piston is sealingly and slideably arranged within the pressurizing chamber to define an inner volume within the pressurizing chamber that is fluidly connected to a pressurizing conduit. A second displacement piston is sealingly and slideably arranged within the evacuation chamber to define an inner volume within the evacuation chamber that is fluidly connected to an evacuation conduit. A reservoir adapter is fluidly connected to the pressurizing conduit and connects to a liquid reservoir. A container adapter is fluidly connected to the evacuation conduit and connects with a flexible container. A transfer conduit is fluidly connected to the reservoir adapter and the container adapter. A valve fluidly connects the container adapter to the evacuation conduit or the transfer conduit.

  • Patent number: 9119911
Abstract: A dosing unit for an ambulatory infusion device and a method of operation are disclosed. The dosing unit includes a stationary member, a movable member, and a plunger. The movable member and the stationary member, together, make a charging valve and a discharging valve. The plunger is located, at least in part, in a metering cavity of the movable member and the movable member is adapted to selectively couple and decouple a driving unit, such that, by operating the driving unit with the movable member being coupled with the driving unit, the movable member moves with the plunger to maintain a position of the plunger relative to the movable member along a displacement axis, and by operating the driving unit with the movable member being decoupled from the driving unit, the plunger is displaced while the position of the movable member is maintained.
