    Abstract: A housing for a battery system includes: an underbody structure including an upper portion and a lower portion; and a detection system for detecting damage to the underbody structure. The upper portion and the lower portion are electrically conductive and oppositely arranged at a distance from each other to be electrically isolated from each other and forming a capacitor therebetween. The detection system includes a resonant circuit into which the capacitor is interconnected is configured to apply a voltage to the resonant circuit at the resonance frequency of the resonant circuit and to detect a change in the capacitance by monitoring a change of the current at the resonance frequency.
