  • Patent number: 11301985
Abstract: A sensing and alert system is installed in a plurality of electrical switchgear cabinets. Each switchgear cabinet includes at least one high-voltage circuit breaker, and each switchgear cabinet is in communication with a central programmable logic controller (PLC) configured to activate and deactivate the high-voltage circuit breaker in the corresponding switchgear cabinet. The sensing and alert system includes a time of flight (ToF) sensor arranged to capture real-time image data, a lighting module affixed to an inside portion of the switchgear cabinet, and a processor operatively coupled to the ToF sensor and to the lighting module. The sensing and alert system is affixed to an inside portion of each switchgear cabinet. The processor compares real-time image data from the ToF sensor to the stored calibration image data and transmits an alarm if the difference is greater than a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 10897124
Abstract: A safety system for high-voltage electrical cabinetry presents alarm indications representing alarm conditions of the electrical switchgear cabinet system at every electrical switchgear cabinet during maintenance. The system includes encoder and decoder devices connected to existing switchgear cabinet lighting infrastructure. The encoder devices receive alarm signals from a control system of the electrical switchgear cabinet system and send encoded alarm signals to the decoder devices by modulating power relayed from the encoder devices to the decoder devices and possibly to lamps. The decoder devices decode the encoded alarm signals and present the alarm indications audibly and/or visually using light and sound indicators. A technician performing maintenance can evaluate instantly the importance of the alarm based on the alarm indications and act accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10755549
Abstract: A safety system for high-voltage electrical cabinetry provides active visual and/or audible warnings during maintenance. Load monitors evaluate electrical loads of dedicated power circuits used by an existing automatic lighting system. Light and sound indicators present status information (e.g. indicating maintenance status or normal operating status) to persons in signaling areas based on whether the evaluated electrical loads indicate that at least one lamp is turned on. A common power supply can be used to power the lighting circuit and the indicators. Bridge modules can also be used to monitor the electrical load for different group lighting circuits and report discrete group status information to a programmable logic controller while also sharing the group status information with the other bridge modules. In this case, the indicators present combined status information, for example, indicating a maintenance status if any lamps from any group is turned on.
