  • Patent number: 7331388
Abstract: A method for completing a well in a single trip is described, which includes inserting a completion tool assembly into the wellbore. The completion tool assembly includes a gravel packing assembly having a central channel substantially therethrough and a service tool assembly slidably positioned within the central channel. The service tool includes a pressure pulsating rotating jetting tool, connectable to a washpipe via a differential valve. By selectively dropping a plurality of plugging devices into the completion tool, multiple operations may be selectively performed in the wellbore in a single trip. In this way, the gravel packing and stimulating operations may be performed by a single completion tool assembly in a single trip into the wellbore, thus reducing the cost and time for performing the gravel packing and stimulating operations.

  • Patent number: 7168979
Abstract: A coaxial connector including an outer conductor, a glass to metal seal (GMS) assembly, and a center conductor, is disclosed. The outer conductor has a tubular shape and defines longitudinal axis. Here, the center conductor and the GMS assembly are coupled before they are placed within the outer conductor. When the GMS assembly is coaxially placed within the outer conductor, the GMS assembly and the outer conductor define a variable gap enclosure. Fusing agent such as solder is placed within the variable gap enclosure. A bead is inserted into the outer conductor surrounding the center conductor and engaging the center conductor at a circumferential slot. The slide-on dielectric bead provides support for the center conductor and maintains the center conductor's position within the outer conductor and its characteristic impedance throughout.

  • Publication number: 20060213670
Abstract: The present invention provides a bi-directional ball seat and method of use. In at least one embodiment, the present invention provides a fluid control system that includes a radial protrusion that can be selectively engaged and disengaged upstream and/or from a ball seat. For example, a ball can be placed in a passageway, engaged with a downstream ball seat, and the radial protrusion radially extended into the passageway distally from the seat relative to the ball. A reverse movement of the ball is restricted by the active radial movement of the radial protrusion into the passageway. The control system can be used to control a variety of tools associated with the well. Without limitation, the tools can include crossover tools, sleeves, packers, safety valves, separators, gravel packers, perforating guns, decoupling tools, valves, and other tools know to those with ordinary skills in the art.

  • Publication number: 20060169462
Abstract: An interventionless actuator for oil well tools is described wherein the actuator comprises at least one floating piston adapted to equalize a pressure differential and lock onto an actuating member. An interventionless actuator is described that is charged to an initial energy level less than the expected at-depth well pressure and then recharged down hole to approximately the at-depth well pressure by a floating piston. At the time of desired interventionless actuation, the actuator is overcharged to a pressure greater than the at-depth well pressure, which pressure is reacted by an actuating piston to generate an actuating movement.

  • Patent number: 6992544
Abstract: A coaxial connection is electromagnetically shielded at an interface between a surface mountable coaxial connector and a planar circuit operating in the radio frequency (RF) and microwave frequency ranges.
