Patent number: 5190140Abstract: An impeller assembly having a housing supporting a rotatable impeller. The housing has a bottom entrance opening and a top exit opening separated by a curved back wall. A liner of low friction and abrasion resistant plastic material located adjacent a portion of the inside of the back wall prevents material buildup on the back wall. The liner is removeably mounted on the housing so that it can be replaced without taking the housing apart. The impeller has a plurality of pivoted paddle assemblies. Each paddle assembly has a body carrying a generally U-shaped liner of low friction and abrasion resistant material to minimize the collection of material on the paddle assemblies. The housing includes a knife adjacent the entrance opening. The body of the impeller assembly has a transverse lip that moves in close relation relative to the knife to cut material.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1992Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Assignee: J-Star IndustriesInventor: Floyd E. Patent number: 4797004Abstract: A particulate material mixer has a rotatable drum with an inclined longitudinal axis. A conveyor having an open top trough and auger is located longitudinally in the drum and operates to move mixed material from the drum chamber into a hopper or alternatively back into the chamber. A drive transmission simultaneously rotates the drum and operates the conveyor. A flexible circular seal interposed between an annular end wall and a circular wall of the drum prevents material from spilling out of the drum. The conveyor trough is mounted for angular movement to regulate the volume of material discharged from the mixer. A manually operated liner actuator allows the operator to select the angular position of the trough. The hopper has a discharge door and chute to direct mixed material away from the mixer to a desired location.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: Van Dale Inc.Inventor: Floyd E. Patent number: 4772173Abstract: A silo unloader has an auger collector for moving material to an impeller operable to discharge material from a tower silo. A sprocket and endless chain secured to a transition assembly mounted on the impeller drives the collector around the silo wall. Wheels on the outer end of the collector and wheels on a biased arm on the inner end of the frame stabilize the unloader in the silo. A stop pivotally connected to the collector limits its backward movement by lifting the collector from the material.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1986Date of Patent: September 20, 1988Assignee: Van Dale, Inc.Inventors: Floyd E. Patent number: 4585385Abstract: A bottom unloader having a material conveyor for moving material from a hopper centrally located in a bin to a location outside of the bin. A drive apparatus mounted on the outer end of the conveyor operates the conveyor and adjusts the tension on the conveyor chain. The outer end of the conveyor has a door that is clamped to a closed position with eccentric clamping locks. An elongated auger collector is mounted on a rotatable turntable located in the central hopper. A cap having a side opening for the auger collector is mounted on the turntable. The auger collector is drivably connected with the conveyor so that, when the conveyor is operated, the auger collector is rotated. A separate drive operated with a hydraulic motor is used to move the auger collector in a circular path.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1984Date of Patent: April 29, 1986Assignee: Veda, Inc.Inventors: Floyd E. Buschbom, Glen D. Hansen, Donald L. Henke

Patent number: 4553664Abstract: A livestock feeding apparatus having an endless belt supported on an elongated table above a feed bunk by a plurality of stands. The stands are laterally and vertically adjustable to level the apparatus and accommodate different sized bunks. The belt has an upper run that rides on a wood deck secured to the support. An idler pulley and drive pulley engages one end of the belt opposite ends. The belt is retained in driving engagement with the drive pulley by a driven roller engageable with the lower run of the belt adjacent the drive pulley. A motor drives the roller at a speed so that the surface speed of the roller is greater than the linear speed of the belt to maintain the lower portion of the run of the belt between the roller and the drive pulley under tension. A sweep assembly slidably mounted on the wood deck operates to move the material off of the side of the top run of the belt into the bunk.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1984Date of Patent: November 19, 1985Assignee: Veda, Inc.Inventors: Floyd E. Buschbom, Glen D. Hansen

Patent number: 4465409Abstract: A top unloading silo unloader pendently supported in a tower silo. The unloader has a material collector moved around the silo with leading and trailing drive wheels. An impeller receives material from the collector and throws the material into an out chute which directs the material to a doorway leading to an upright passageway. The drive wheels are mounted on opposite ends of a rocker arm rotatably supported on a support. The support is connected to the impeller housing. Power is applied to both wheels by separate drive shafts connected to a gear box. A collector leveling apparatus has a linear actuator connected to the unloader frame. A cable connects the linear actuator with the outer end of the collector and the support in a manner so that the outer end of the collector can be raised or lowered and held in a selected position in response to operation of the actuator. The linear actuator has a reversible electric motor coupled to a motor controller.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1982Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Assignee: Veda, Inc.Inventors: Floyd E.
