  • Patent number: 7226562
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for storing a particle-containing liquid. The storage apparatus comprises a microfluidic convoluted flow channel having a plurality of particle capture regions. The storage channel is preferably an isotropic spatially periodic channel. Sedimented particles can be resuspended following storage. This invention further provides a microfluidic analysis cartridge having a convoluted storage channel therein. The sample analysis can use optical, electrical, pressure sensitive, or flow sensitive detection. A plurality of analysis channels can be included in a single cartridge. The analysis channels can be joined to reagent inlets for diluents, indicators or lysing agents. A mixing channel can be positioned between the reagent inlet and the analysis region to allow mixing and reaction of the reagent. The cartridge can include additional valves and pumps for flow management.

  • Patent number: 6970077
Abstract: An ambient condition detector can provide verbal feedback to a user or consumer indicative of an alarm condition being sensed beyond the existence of a predetermined alarm condition and/or location. Information pertaining to developing alarm conditions whether gas or fire, that are being sensed can be verbally fed back to the consumer either automatically or in response to incident infrared control signals directed to the detector by the consumer. Additional status and/or parametric information can be provided by the consumer in response to incoming infrared command signals.

  • Publication number: 20050225524
Abstract: A keyboard and multi-line display assembly includes a liquid crystal display and a keyboard having a plurality of keys. At least one key of the keyboard is coupled to the display for contrast control, bypassing a processor of the assembly to which the other keys of the keyboard are coupled for data entry. The contrast control key, which is coupled to the display by a digital potentiometer, allows a user to adjust the contrast of the display on the fly without having to exit a data entry mode or to enter a set-up mode.

  • Patent number: 3952068
Abstract: Particular compositions of vinylidene alcohols are provided which are distinguishably characterized by their structure, their biodegradable nature, and by their very low pour point characteristics. These compositions can be used to provide useful surfactants and detergents and to form distinctive ethoxylate derivatives having unusual attributes, such as biodegradability, very high rates of water solubility, nongelling tendencies, and superior wetting ability; and certain of these ethoxylate compositions are synergistic in wetting ability and, unlike related ethoxylates of conventional alcohols, the ethoxylates of certain compositions possess cloud point temperatures within an especially desired range.
