  • Patent number: 4157070
Abstract: An auxiliary shelving adapter for use with a shelving assembly having at least one structural shelf supported by shelf supporting members such as corner posts or rails. Each adapter includes a pair of hangers adapted to be suspended from the structural shelf in spaced relationship inboard of an adjacent pair of corner posts at one end of the assembly. In addition, each adapter has a horizontally-elongated bracket joined to the hangers and adapted to support one end of an auxiliary shelf beneath the structural shelf. Abutment elements disposed at the lower end of each adapter engage the inboard surfaces of a pair of end posts to brace the adapter, maintain it in a plane generally parallel with such end posts, and securely but removably hold the end of the auxiliary shelf against horizontal endwise movement.

  • Patent number: 4132178
Abstract: A shelf and corner post combination wherein the shelf is adjustable into any of a variety of selected elevations. Each of the posts is preferably cylindrical and is provided with a series of vertically-spaced indentations along at least one side thereof. The shelf includes a perimetric frame having adjacent side frame members which merge to define a corner section having an inside contour corresponding with that of the post. Each corner section has at least one inwardly-projecting horizontal rib adapted to seat in any selected indentation of the post. Different means are disclosed for drawing the rib into a selected indentation and for locking the parts in interfitting relationship.

  • Patent number: 4027600
Abstract: A folding table having a pair of table tops movable between folded and unfolded positions is provided with hinges and rods which cooperate to provide a releasable safety stop to prevent further movement of the table tops before the table tops reach their unfolded position and to releasably lock the table tops in their unfolded position. Each hinge includes a pair of facing hinge halves which are pivotally secured together and are provided with rod openings which are aligned when the table tops are in their unfolded position. A rod for each hinge is mounted on an elongated shaft which extends between and is slidably mounted on a hinge half of each of the hinges. When the table tops are in their folded position, each rod extends through the opening in one of the hinge halves and is engageable with an edge portion of the other hinge half of the hinge as the table tops approach their unfolded position to prevent further pivoting movement of the hinges and the table tops.

  • Patent number: 3964404
Abstract: A shelf and corner post assembly wherein the shelf is adjustable into any of a variety of selected elevations. Each of the generally cylindrical corner posts is provided with one or more series of indentations adapted to receive arm portions of a U-shaped clip. A screw urges the clip into engagement with the post to clamp the post within a corner section of the perimetric frame of the shelf. A corner brace is secured to the frame and, in one form, extends horizontally between the upper and lower arms of the clip. The frame includes flanges which slope to promote drainage and edges which are spaced from the clip to prevent possible dirt accumulation and to facilitate assembly.

  • Patent number: 3944205
Abstract: A stirrup extension bar is slidably received in an elongated tubular channel equipped at its mouth with a brake pad, and the innermost end of the extension bar is equipped with a brake pad. If the coefficient of friction between the pads and interior channel walls is greater than about 0.9, the horizontal frictional forces tending to hold the bar in place are sufficiently greater than the force tending to unseat the bar, so that the bar remains locked in place. When the stirrup assembly held by the outer end of the extension bar is raised, the brake pads release and the extension bar may be adjusted horizontally. Normal use forces apply the locking force after adjustment.
