  • Patent number: 5654247
Abstract: Described is a novel method by which the activity of a deactivated or partially deactivated paraffin isomerization catalyst is enhanced or reactivated. The isomerization catalyst undergoes a deactivation period followed by a reactivation period during which isomerizable hydrocarbons are simultaneously isomerized during the catalyst reactivation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1995
Date of Patent: August 5, 1997
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Fan-Nan Lin, Daniel T. Fernald, Floyd H. Holland
  • Patent number: 4960502
Abstract: Process and apparatus for catalytic conversion of oils. A furnace heats a feedstock which is provided to a separator for separation of the feedstock into a gas vapor phase and a liquid phase. The liquid phase is provided under pressure to a venturi nozzle which atomizes the liquid oil. The atomized oil and the gas are each provided to a reactor such as the lower end of a riser reactor in a fluid catalytic cracking unit.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4851196
Abstract: A fluid catalytic cracking unit of the type having a reactor vessel positioned directly over a regenerator vessel. A pair of catalyst wells are mounted on the lower interior portion of the regenerator vessel and are each in communication with an associated conduit. The other end of each conduit is connected to an atomizing lift pot positioned beneath the lowest level of the regenerator vessel. The atomizing lift pot is placed in fluid communication with the reactor vessel via a riser reactor which may be either internal or external to the regenerator vessel. Plug valves or slide valves may be used to control the flow of regenerated catalyst from the regenerator to the lift pot.

  • Patent number: 4800014
Abstract: A mixing chamber for catalyst and oil in a catalytic cracking unit in which atomized oil is introduced preferably axially in a preferably vertically oriented transfer line or riser reactor from an atomization chamber segregated from flow of cracking catalyst. The cracking catalyst flows with a radially inward component to the mouth of the riser from the circumference thereof and mixes with the oil feed.

  • Patent number: 4562046
Abstract: A mixing chamber for solids and feed such as in a fluidized catalytic cracking unit in which atomized oil is introduced preferably axially in a preferably vertically oriented transfer line or riser reactor from an atomization chamber segregated from flow of cracking catalyst. The cracking catalyst flows with a radially inward component to the mouth of the riser from the circumference thereof and mixes with the oil feed.

  • Patent number: 4443570
Abstract: An improved asphalt containing composition having desirable softening point and low temperature properties are prepared by incorporating into the asphalt a hydrogenated rubber, e.g., a hydrogenated styrene vinyl aromatic copolymer, a petroleum solvent, and an essentially amorphous silica.
