  • Publication number: 20240089805
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a UE sets up an evolved packet system fallback (EPSFB) call procedure that is associated with network-configured inter-frequency measurements to be performed by the UE at a first inter-frequency measurement interval. The UE punctures some or all of the network-configured inter-frequency measurements during the EPSFB call procedure.

  • Publication number: 20240022974
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a subscriber identity module (SIM) dual standby (DSDS) user equipment (UE) may transition a packet data session from a first radio access technology (RAT) associated with a first subscription to a second RAT associated with a second subscription, and may further transmit, over the first RAT responsive to the packet data session transition to the second RAT, one or more messages to tear down the packet data session over the first RAT.

  • Publication number: 20230354112
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may avoid frequent handover in small cells by triggering handover to a macro cell. The UE may determine that the UE performs a number of handovers within a time period. The UE may determine to trigger a handover to the macro cell. The UE may identify the macro cell based on measuring the macro cell during multiple handovers. The UE may determine to refrain from indicating signal measurements of small cells in a measurement report. Accordingly, a measurement report may include a signal measurement of the macro cell and omit the signal measurements of the small cells. The UE may transmit the measurement report to the small cell acting as a serving cell for the UE. Based the measurement report, the UE may receive a message initiating a handover procedure with the macro cell.

  • Publication number: 20230284092
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes receiving a request for a wireless connection from an application associated with one or more user equipment (UE) route selection policy (URSP) rules, attempting to establish the wireless connection for the application via a first subscriber identity module (SIM) according to one or more of the URSP rules associated with the application that are supported by the first SIM, and taking one or more actions to establish the wireless connection for the application via a second SIM if the attempt to establish the wireless connection for the application via the first SIM fails.

  • Publication number: 20230276337
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing dynamic network slicing resource reselection for wireless communication are described. User equipments (UEs) may determine that network slicing resources utilized with respect to one or more applications are to be changed in run time, such as for more efficient operation in light of a change in power mode, throughput mode, latency mode, etc. A message indicating a cause for reselection of a current packet data unit (PDU) session association with an application may be provided to a UE route selection policy (URSP) manager. The URSP manager may reevaluate a current PDU session association with the application to determine if it is a best match with the cause. If no, a switch to a new PDU session association with the application may be made. If yes, the current PDU session association with the application may be maintained Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20230224806
Abstract: Techniques to recover from authentication failure are disclosed. During authentication of a user equipment (UE) with a public land mobile network (PLMN), the UE may receive an AUTHENTICATION REJECT with an extensible authentication protocol (EAP)-failure message. When this occurs, instead of invalidating the universal subscriber identity module (USIM) of the UE, the UE can search for other PLMNs that can potentially pass the authentication challenge. If one is found, the UE can register with the found PLMN.

  • Publication number: 20230217545
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for improving emergency calls by a user equipment (UE) in certain scenarios. The techniques generally include receiving a trigger for the UE to perform a circuit switched (CS) emergency call via a first subscriber identity module (SIM) that is serving as a default data subscriber (DDS), attempting the CS emergency call via the first SIM, detecting a failure to perform the CS emergency call via the first SIM, and re-attempting the CS emergency call via a second SIM, in response to the detection.

  • Publication number: 20230209434
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a signal - to-noise ratio (SNR) of one or more communications from a serving cell satisfies an SNR threshold after establishing a New Radio radio resource control (RRC) connection with the serving cell. The UE may transmit a measurement message to the cell based at least in part, on the determining that the SNR of the one or more communications from the serving cell satisfies the SNR threshold. The UE may receive, from the serving cell, a list of one or more neighbor cells based at least in part on the transmitting the measurement message, and establish an RRC connection to a neighbor cell on the list based at least in part on determining that a radio link failure occurred. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20230180309
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that it is operating in a dual-subscription mode that includes a first subscription and a second subscription. In some cases, the UE may include an application that is requesting to establish a data connection in accordance with an access preference rule for the application. The UE may determine that the access preference rule lacks a match among policies of a first route selection policy associated with the first subscription (e.g., a default subscription). The UE may then evaluate a second route selection policy associated with the second subscription for a policy that matches the access preference rule based on determining the lack of the match among policies of the first route selection policy. The UE may establish the data connection after evaluating the second route selection policy for the matching policy.

  • Publication number: 20230107560
Abstract: A method to maintain network service for a mobile equipment includes reading a current integrated circuit card identification (ICCID) value when the mobile equipment supports a hot swap function and a remove interrupt is not triggered by hardware in response to a polling error triggered by a universal integrated circuit card (UICC). The method also includes comparing the current ICCID value to a cached ICCID value captured during a UICC initialization. The method further includes maintaining a current state of the UICC when the current ICCID value matches the cached ICCID value.

  • Publication number: 20230076240
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for supporting registration in a fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) (5GNR) standalone (SA) network by a processor of a multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) wireless device configured with a first subscription and a second subscription. Various embodiments may include determining whether the first subscription received a shared mobile country code (MCC) from the second subscription and the shared MCC is different than an MCC of a home public land mobile network (HPLMN) of the first subscription in response to preforming a full band scan of frequencies supporting the first subscription, and stopping the full band scan by the first subscription and scanning a 5GNR band associated with the shared MCC in response to determining that the first subscription received the shared MCC from the second subscription and the shared MCC is different than the MCC of the HPLMN of the first subscription.
