  • Patent number: 7125172
Abstract: A spindle unit includes an elongated shaft, a tubular housing surrounding the shaft, a locating rolling bearing in the interior of the housing that is mounted on the shaft, and a non-locating rolling bearing provided in the interior of the housing and mounted on the shaft, wherein the two bearings are spaced apart along the shaft. The bearing housing is made as two identical halves, each of which is formed as a generally semi-tubular shell-formed member, having radii of varying size in the longitudinal direction thereof, with end portions closely adjoining to the shaft. Each bearing housing half is provided with an arrangement adapted to interconnect the two bearing housing halves in a weatherproof manner. • Patent number: 6939051
Abstract: A bearing arrangement supporting a sealing bellows around a shaft to permit axial and angular motion includes inner and outer bearing sleeves, and a rolling bearing having an inner race ring fitted around the inner sleeve with one end face engaging a shoulder in the inner sleeve. A sealing device is provided in a space between the inner and outer sleeves. A flexible elongated bellows for enclosing a portion of the shaft is sealingly connected at one end to the outer surface of the outer sleeve and is attachable at its opposite end to a fitting of a machine member from which the shaft projects. The outer sleeve is a sheet metal sleeve provided with an inwardly bent flange portion forming an engagement surface for the opposite side face of the rolling bearing. The bellows is fixedly attachable to the outer surface of the outer sleeve by bonding through vulcanization.

  • Publication number: 20040101220
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for supporting a sealing bellows around a shaft in a manner permitting axial and angular motion, and incorporating a first, inner bearing sleeve (3), a standard rolling bearing (2) fitted with its inner race ring around said first sleeve (3) and with one end face engaging a shoulder (4) in the inner sleeve (3), and a second, outer bearing sleeve (7), sealing means provided in a space between said first and second bearing sleeves (3, 7), beside the rolling bearing, and a flexible, elongated bellows (12) intended to enclose a portion of a shaft (1) and sealingly connected at one of its ends to the outer envelope surface of the second, outer bearing sleeve (7), and having means (16, 18) for attachment of its opposite end to a fitting (14) of a machine member (15) from which the shaft (1) projects, wherein the second, outer bearing sleeve (7) is a sheet metal sleeve provided with an inwardly bent flange portion (8), forming an engagement surface for the opposite side face of the rolling bear

  • Publication number: 20040080113
Abstract: The present invention refers to a seal arrangement for sealing off a slot between first and second mutually movable bodies, such as the rings of a bearing. The seal comprises a first and a second member, the first member being arranged on the first body and the second member being arranged on the second body, whereby a labyrinth-shaped slit is formed between the first and the second members. The slit being filled with a semi-solid material having lubricating properties so that, upon rotation of one of the members, the material will slide along one of the members thereby forming a very thin labyrinth between the member and the material, which labyrinth substantially prevents passage of air, moisture and dirt.

  • Publication number: 20030210841
Abstract: A bearing seat provided in or on a cylindrical surface of a component to which the bearing is to be mounted is constructed so that the component at which the bearing seat is provided is softer at least in the surface region than the ring(s) of the bearing that is to be interconnected to the component via the bearing seat. In addition, either one of the bearing seat and the bearing ring in their surfaces facing each other has a number of surface irregularities arranged ring to cause deformation to the softer surface region under a mutual axial mounting motion between the bearing seat and the bearing ring to thereby form a mutual grip between the seat and the bearing ring.

  • Publication number: 20030201108
Abstract: A rotary disc for a disc plough or the like includes a circular disc having a circumferential cutting edge and a centrally located hub having a bearing seat for a bearing for mounting on a shaft journal incorporated in a frame. The hub is designed as a separate annular sleeve detachably attachable to the plough disc, with the sleeve having the bearing seat provided in the inner surface of the hub. At least a surface region of the hub is softer than the rings of the bearing to be interconnected to the hub via the seat, and the seat in its surface facing the bearing has a number of surface irregularities arranged, under a mutual axial mounting motion between the seat and the bearing ring to cause a deformation of the softer surface region, thereby forming a mutual grip between the seat and the bearing ring.

  • Patent number: 6623166
Abstract: A precision spindle unit for low friction performance includes a tubular housing surrounding a shaft, and first and second rolling bearings mounted on the shaft within the housing. The first bearing is axially arrested between the flange of a locking washer fixed to the shaft and a shoulder on the shaft. A second locking washer is fitted to the shaft, and a resilient member is provided between the second locking washer and a side of the inner race ring of the second bearing. The axially inwardly facing side of the outer race ring of the second bearing engages an inwardly projecting shoulder in the housing, with the second bearing being biased between the resilient member and the inwardly projecting shoulder. The locking washers define a slot seal at each axial end of the housing to provide a seal at the outwardly facing sides of the first and second bearings.

  • Patent number: 6588693
Abstract: A fishing reel includes a spool rotatably supported in a bearing arrangement on a spindle unit. The spindle unit is a held-together unit incorporating an elongated spindle and a bearing housing supported on the spindle by at least two spaced apart rolling bearings. Annular end washers on the spindle shield off the interior of the housing from the surrounding environment via a small slot acting as a seal. The housing has at least one exterior radially extending shoulder and the spool has at least one internal projection intended to engage the shoulder of the housing to define the axial position of the spool relative to the bearings while also taking up axial load in one direction. A resilient member between the bearing housing and the spool gives play-free contact between the housing and the spool and gives a pretension of the spindle unit against the shoulder of the housing.
