    Abstract: The effects of microphonic noise on the output of an array of commonly-mounted pyroelectric detectors are suppressed by contemporaneously adding the signal outputs from all of the detectors, determining the averaged signal, and separately subtracting the averaged signal from each detector output. The method cancels microphonic noise and reduces random noise with only a slight decrease in the signal-to-noise ratio.
