    Abstract: A promotion processing system may include a point-of-sale (POS) terminal and a promotion processing server. The promotion processing server may include a memory for maintaining a database of product identifiers, and store promotion identifiers for store promotions corresponding to at least some of the product identifiers. The promotion processing server may also include a processor configured to cooperate with the POS terminal during a purchase transaction to obtain at least one product identifier presented at the POS terminal, and determine whether a store promotion identifier is presented at the POS terminal, and, when presented, determine a matching product identifier and restrict sending a digital promotion related thereto, and, when not presented, then permitting sending of the digital promotion.
