  • Patent number: 5940758
Abstract: PCS switching system processes the movement of a wireless set from one paging zone to another paging zone or from one base station to another base station at the lowest software layer in the PCS switching system thereby reducing the amount of processing required of the PCS switching system. Each base station is interconnected to the wireless switching network by communication links. When a wireless set registers on the wireless switching network via a base station, a physical object is established that will control the physical protocol used to communicate with the wireless set. In addition, a software object is established that will control the first layer of software protocol to communicate with the wireless set. When the wireless set moves to a new base station that interconnects to the wireless switching network, it initiates contact with the new base. This initialization causes a new physical object to be established.

  • Patent number: 5841780
Abstract: Determining by a telecommunication switching systems in response to the initialization of a new BRI interface if a communication terminal connected to the new BRI interface is presently active on another BRI interface within the telecommunication switching system. If the answer is yes, then the telecommunication switching systems automatically transfers all active calls to the new BRI interface from the other BRI interface preventing the loss of the active calls.

  • Patent number: 5831969
Abstract: A communication switching system has a plurality of switch nodes with each of the switch nodes responsive to a failure of the primary signaling channel that is providing the common signaling channel in a facility access service (FAS) group to immediately switch to the secondary signaling channel of the FAS group. This switching occurs quickly so that no calls are dropped within the FAS group. Any logical links being communicated on the primary signaling channel are transferred to the secondary signaling channel with no data packets being irreplaceable lost. A first physical object is established to control a physical protocol on the primary signaling channel, and a second physical object is established to control the physical protocol on the secondary signaling channel. Further, a single software object is established to always control the first layer of software protocol on the common signaling channel whether that is the primary signaling channel or secondary signaling channel.
