Abstract: A rail receiving member includes a rail receiving member having a bottom wall, a plurality of side walls, and a back wall, and is configured to receive and connect to an end of a rail member. The back wall of that rail receiving member may be attached to a vertical member and covered by a cap. In an adjustable railing bracket installation, a hinge assembly can be selectively coupled to the rail receiving member in at least two orientations, each of which allowing for rotation of the rail receiving member about a hinge axis of the hinge assembly. A first orientation permits rotation of the rail receiving member about the hinge axis of the hinge assembly in a vertical plane. A second orientation permits rotation of the rail receiving member about the hinge axis of the hinge assembly in a horizontal plane.

Abstract: A connector joins two handrail ends to each other at a user selectable angle. This is accomplished by forming the connector to support attachment to the handrail ends while providing a pivoting joint between a first coupling member (configured to mount to one handrail end) and a second coupling member (configured to mount to another handrail end). The pivoting joint is provided by a selectively tightenable ball and socket joint. The selective tightening operation is supported by a pivotally mounted threaded interconnect shaft. The shaft passes through a slot opening formed in the first coupling member at the ball portion of the ball and socket joint and is threadedly received in a threaded opening formed in the second coupling member at the socket portion of the ball and socket joint.

Abstract: An accent lighting source utilizes a light source having a metal heat dissipating housing with an aperture within which at least one point light source, such as from an LED, is mounted. The aperture is closed by a lens/diffuser structure. The light source is mounted within a housing for the accent light source. The housing has a design configuration that supports one or more of a preferred accent lighting installation on a horizontal or vertical surface. Exemplary horizontal surfaces include the top of a post member, a deck surface, a stair surface or an overhanging or ceiling surface. Exemplary vertical surfaces include a stair riser and the side of post or wall surface.
